Charleston-Institute Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Launches Inaugural Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy in Charleston
Charleston, WV – September 12, 2024 – The Charleston-Institute Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated (CIAC) is thrilled to announce the launch of the inaugural Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy in Charleston, West Virginia. This empowering program is designed to mentor and support girls aged 11 to 14, providing them with the tools and resources needed to thrive in a competitive global society.
The 21st National President, Marcia L. Fudge, established the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy as a signature program of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated during the 1996-98 biennium. The program aims to guide girls into womanhood by offering educational support and professional guidance. Participants will learn how to create opportunities for academic success, enhance their decision-making and communication skills, and develop their unique abilities and talents.
"The Delta Academy is more than just a program; it's a transformative experience that prepares our young girls for the challenges of tomorrow. We are committed to nurturing their potential and helping them become the leaders and change agents our communities need," said Dr. Michelle Foster, President of the Charleston-Institute Alumnae Chapter.
The Delta Academy's orientation session will occur on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Bream Presbyterian Church. During this event, parents and guardians can learn more about the program and enroll their daughters, granddaughters, and nieces.
