We enhance access to nature by providing the tools necessary to break down obstacles. MyOutdoorJoy provides expert training instructors, outdoor recreational

equipment for members and customized group events which creates a since of community to encourage increased participation in outdoor events. Members enjoy hands-on experiences during group events and classes that mirror what they have learned in class in a safe and supportive environment. MyOutdoorJoy provides classes and events in camping, hiking, backpacking, land navigation (map and compass), and practical prepping. Our events reinforce the classroom experience. MyOutdoorJoy also provides additional outdoor activities including The SCUBA Experience, Skydiving, Kayaking, International outdoor trips and weekly casual walks on many of Charlotte area greenways. At MyOutdoorJoy we want everyone to enjoy the outdoors and all the benefits that nature offers.

Then PRIDE MAGAZINE, Charlotte’s only African American Business & Lifestyle magazine interviewed James about his company and it’s mission to reintroduce people to the outdoors...

Somewhere in the mix, someone from PRIDE magazine publication saw fit to leverage this image to dawn the cover of their September and October 2024 issue. This is one heck of an unsuspected birthday gift. We were just being us.

The more mature I get, the better camping becomes, all my trips include a queen size mattress with sheets and pillows from home, add the fresh air and I never want to go back inside.

The joy of camping comes from the experience. Sleeping and spending time outdoors is peaceful, relaxing, and an amazing way to disconnect from everyday life to connect with the natural world.
