These lions walked out of a preschool art class… and typical of all of our classes, they couldn’t have looked more different. Some looked very lion-ish, and some looked like I tripped carrying a whole a tub of art supplies. 😆

Here’s the thing: every child listened to the same story, experienced the same introduction and demonstration of the shapes, and dove into the same pile of materials. And every child walked away with the exact same experience: joy, pride, and the thrill of creating “a lion” that was all their own.

Art isn’t about making picture-perfect lions. It’s about making their lions. Our “hands-off” teaching approach is intentional: we guide just enough to spark ideas, but step back so kids can discover, and interpret, and express themselves.

The magic is that there’s no “right” way. Every brushstroke is confidence-building. Every scribble is problem-solving. Every masterpiece- whether it looks like a lion or not - is a reminder that creativity is about courage, not perfection.

Let your child come to a class w/ us to experience how amazing that can feel!

Small Hands Big Art, recognized as Charlotte's best children's art studio, is a happy place where creative kids have been making magic (and messes) since 2009.

Rooted in fine art principles, fused with contemporary trends, and slathered in individual expression, we pride ourselves in curating an innovative art curriculum that grows with your child.

Starting when they can barely plant their swivel hips at our painting wall & thrash around with a brush, and continuing into the teens when they start following us on Instagram, we strive to push our creative boundaries, whether it is your child's first time through the door, or 400th.
