Finally revealing some of the breathtaking highlights from S + L’s dreamy Hawaii elopement! Our day began with a cold plunge in a river in the jungle (stay tuned for those stunning shots!). Afterwards, we grabbed some breakfast at a local coffee shop and then went to their airbnb so they could get ready.

Getting ready together can be such a sweet and fun way to make your elopement comfortable for you! It sets the tone for an intimate and relaxed celebration! And all the unique details help tell the story of the day!

Then we headed to a beautiful forest and field overlooking the island so that S + L could ground themselves in the cool fresh air, write their vows, and play in the forest before their ceremony! It’s often these small moments that are overlooked that I find so important to include in your day....time to soak in the beauty of where you are, and time for a moment of stillness together before your ceremony!

“Sunrise or Sunset Elopement? Let’s weigh the magic!

For the early birds, sunrise elopements offer the tranquility of a new day and can almost ensure a private ceremony with most of the island still asleep. You’ll be able to fill the rest of your day with an adventure or two, or maybe a power nap before a celebratory dinner that night! & YES, there are hair and makeup artists who offer early elopement packages & will come to you this early!

P.S. If you’re coming from the east coast of North America, you will probably be waking up pretty early anyway the first few days :)

🌺✨ On the flip side, sunset vows bathe you in the warmth of golden hues, allow you to get a good sleep the night before, and a chill, slow morning. You’ll need an experienced photographer who knows where to take you to avoid the crowds but privacy for your ceremony is always possible :)

No matter what....listen to your gut, and go with the option that makes you feel less stressed!

Who needs a fancy venue when you can say 'I do' surrounded by palm trees, gentle waves, and lush jungles? ⁣

S + E traded a traditional venue for the Big Island's black sand beaches and stunning lava fields in Volcano National Park blending their love with the rich cultural heritage of Hawaii. ⁣

A week after their ceremony I met them in Maui where they were honeymooning for an adventure session to explore the beautiful, lush jungles of Maui and gorgeous sandy coastlines!

From the lei exchanges to the little details in between, their elopement became an unforgettable journey, celebrating both their union and the diversity in landscapes across both islands! 🌴⁣

Have you ever avoided pursuing something new because you were scared of failing or being rejected? Maybe it was a new hobby, career, or daily routine that seemed daunting and overwhelming. I can relate, and I work through these thoughts daily.

When fear stops me from starting something new, I remind myself of a few things:
1) I have nothing to lose by trying, and failure is simply a learning opportunity.
2) Starting small is okay, and it doesn't have to be perfect from the beginning.
3) I trust in my values and beliefs to guide me and stay true to who I am.

It's essential to remember that progress and success take time, and there's no such thing as an overnight success. Whether it's mastering a new skill, launching a business, or establishing a daily routine, it's important to have patience, resilience, and a growth mindset.

So, if you're feeling hesitant about pursuing something new, remember that you're not alone, and taking that first step, no matter how small, is the key to achieving your goals. Trust in yourself and your abilities, and let your passion and values guide you. What's the worst that could happen? Give it a try and see where it takes you!

Anna and Piotr wanted a dreamy forest, cliffs, and sunset at the beach! This was probably one of my favorite sunsets of all time because of the beautiful sunshower that happened as the sun set, ending the day with what felt like literal magic! ⁣

One mindset I've shifted recently, is to let go of the idea of doing something the "right way" or "the way everyone else is doing it" and instead honoring what works with my process. ⁣
⁣
Film photography is one example of this! Film is so nostalgic and colorful, and it brings my storytelling to a new level which I love adding to my client galleries!⁣
⁣
When I look at certain photos, I KNOW immediately that I am going to make an extra copy and edit in either black and white OR create a film-like edit. There are now digital cameras that create certain film photos using profiles in camera. Some photographers shoot and develop film, and there are some, like me, who bring an INSTAX film camera for FUN! I then edit some of my digital files to look like film. ⁣
⁣
We all struggle with comparison sometimes, but rather than comparing, I love celebrating how each photographer shoots...in this case....film differently and in a way that works best for their creative process! We're ALL amazing, we all have unique styles, and we will continue to grow together to give our clients the BEST experience! ⁣

There is SO MUCH to learn, SO many things we can keep adding to our businesses, but don't get lost in doing it the RIGHT way because one specific photographer does it that way...do what works for YOU! 🫶🏼⁣

Amy and Andy’s intimate wedding was SO fun and their chemistry was INSANE!! Toes in the sand, walking along the black lava rock of the Kona coast, Amy and Andy celebrated their wedding surrounded by friends and family at the lovely Kona Salt Farm. & I’m so honored they chose me for this special moment in their life! & so grateful I could preserve these memories for them ❤️

This week I’ve been reflecting on what brings me joy in my business. Growth, creativity and education come to mind. I am always striving to improve my craft…whether it is with trying a new angle for a shot, investing in new equipment (underwater housing), or enrolling in a drone pilot’s license course! Why? Because I want to elevate the creative experience for my clients and feed my the part of soul that desires to learn new things!

I can’t wait to bring more creative perspectives to my sessions….and soon enough this perspective will be from the sky…with a drone!

Wanna know my secret to avoiding crowds in Hawaii? …wake up for sunrise! I’m not a morning person myself BUT waking up early is worth it every time when we have the beach to ourselves! :) In fact, this photo was taken in Waikiki…one of the most visited parts of O’ahu with no one around!

I’m also a sucker for the softer tones and hues that come with sunrise!

Can you believe this was Dwayne and Krystal’s 5th and final location for their shoot?! As a gift for Krystal’s birthday, Dwayne wanted to document two days of adventures in Maui so that they could share these memories with their kids and family when they returned home! I was so stoked to share this opportunity with who made an amazing film for them!

Two days of photos doesn’t always mean hours straight of shooting…it’s usually split over two afternoons or at least infused with some down time for breaks! Their two days of adventures included golfing, a private chef dinner, exploring a secret forest and driving along Maui’s incredible cliffside backroads!

Whether it’s a couples shoot or your elopement, I HIGHLY recommend adding activities that excite you into your shoot and making it feel like a date!
