Last year, it was nonstop rain. This year is the battle of the bugs. Sadly, I just started pulling over half of my dahlia plants that are diseased. Hoping I can save at least a few plants with some pest management. I guess this will be a season of learning about better pest prevention and plant health. 😩

I almost cried when I saw these vole tracks. Why? Because under the snow there are 500 tulip bulbs aka a vole buffet. Hoping that the blood meal I put down will deter them from devouring them all. Just another remider that growers are at the mercy of Mother Nature and her furry friends. 🤞🏼

I am so done with battling bugs. I have bought and released ladybugs to help. Nope. I have been hunting nocturnal beetles by the dozens each night. Leafhoppers, thrips, caterpillars, stink bugs, Japanese beetles galore. This one in the first photo showed up today. He is the size of a silver dollar. 😩
