December 20, 2024: We have fun at the Club! Friday, it was the annual Holiday Happy Hour and Potluck. After dinner, for which members had brought quite tasty dishes, we played a game of Yankee Trader. As in the past, the nice bottles of wine were highly desired. Have a look. We hope to see you next year!

At the Woman’s Club of Chevy Chase, we have fun, even as we contribute positively to our community. Here we are, wrapping gifts that our club members had donated to the Community Bridges community project, Angel Tree. Many families in the county will have a happier holiday because of the combined efforts of organizations like ours. We were happy to be part of Angel Tree!

December 15, 2024: The elves were busy at Santa’s Workshop, an annual fundraiser for The Woman’s Club of Chevy Chase in support of its community programs and scholarships. Visitors to Santa’s worksop flowed in as the afternoon progressed. The kids enjoyed visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus and having their photos taken with Santa, as well as throughout the Worksop as they completed their art projects or viewed the model train exhibition. We hope to see you there next year!

December 4, 2024: GFWC International President Suellen Brazil and GFWC Director of Junior Clubs Shannon Bailey greeted several members of the WCCC at the GFWC Holiday Open House. That’s Mary Bahrs, Patricia Mitchell, Tracy Cooper-Tuckman, Wilsonia Cherry, Andrea Sherman, Caren Danies, Barbara Gaskill, and Erin Goldstein in front of a gorgeous tree! It was a lovely event at which we were graciously and personally thanked by International President Brazil for all the work that we do as a club for our community.

WCCC was in the house at the GFWC Holiday Open House! We had fun talking with each other, as well as with other members of other women’s clubs from around the country. The food offerings were varied and plentiful! The chocolate chip meringues were to die for, but the chicken salad in puff pastry cups was pretty good too! ‘Hope that more members of WCCC can join in the festivities next year. Have a look!

Thanks to WCCC’s Program Chair, Marion Klein, for bringing such a lively and informative speaker to our November General Membership meeting on November 20, 2024! Steve Livengood, Chief Guide of the U.S. Capitol Historical Society, fully engaged us with his presentation, “The US Capitol: A Historian’s Guide to the Temple of Democracy.” Here are a few more photographs from the event, previously chronicled in an earlier posting by our partner FB guru, Mary Bahrs.

On November 20, 2024, members listened to Steve Livengood, head tour guide at the U.S.Capitol, talk about the history of the Capitol accompanied by wonderful slides depicting the progress in its construction. The highlight was learning about the Freedom statue atop the dome. Steve generously presented us with a book, “We The People."
