With the hunting season ramping up in Wyoming, finding the perfect deer is on a lot of hunters' minds.

Did you know that scientists, wildlife management professionals, and geographic information systems experts are doing important work together to ensure Mule Deer, Whitetail, and other Wyoming ungulates remain a vital part of our state's ecosystem, even as their habitat and migration routes are continuously impacted by human development?

Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources researcher and Muley Fanatic Foundation fellow Tayler LaSharr will present a talk on understanding the migration habits of Wyoming's wildlife on Tuesday, November 15 at Laramie County Community College's Surbrugg/Prentice Auditorium in Cheyenne at 6 pm. This talk is free and open to the public and is presented through the Gerald and Jessie Chambers Speakers Series at the LCCC Foundation.

๐Ÿ‘€ Check this event out! One of our featured 2021 Literary Connection authors Ausma Zehanat Khan has a new book coming out Nov 8 and she's celebrating the release this Friday at 6 pm at the Tattered Cover Book Store in Denver with a reading, Q&A, and signing.

We got an early copy of Blackwater Falls and this book is a perfect who-dunnit to curl up with on these crisp autumn days. Complex characters, fast pacing, and mysteries both big and small that will keep you guessing until the very end. What truly sets this book apart is Zehanat Khan's thoughtful portrayal of all of the complex internal and external negotiations that her characters must navigate as they seek to solve a very complicated crime in a very specific place at a very specific moment in history. Blackwater Falls is a benchmark in how multi-layered crime fiction can be!

This is such a great novel for anyone who is getting back into reading fiction - or reading any kind of book! Christine Carbo's writing pulls you in and doesn't easily let go.

We hope you enjoy it Nikole and we hope you can join your husband at Literary Connection next year! We โค๏ธ readers!

Itโ€™s been a loooong time since Iโ€™ve read a book just to read a book and enjoy a good story. Like since I was in high schoolโ€ฆright before my 19-year old was born and life took over. I was a prolific reader back then. Not so much now.

But Iโ€™m getting back into itโ€ฆslowly. Right now Iโ€™m only reading about 15 minutes a day while doing my after school kiddo pick-up. But, hey, I gotta start somewhere right?

The story is set in Glacier National Park, Montana. Not far from my home. The author is from the general area as well, I think, and came to Laramie County Community College to speak to the students about writing during a Literary Connection event. My husband, a Pathway Coordinator at the college, participated in/helped with the event and brought home a signed copy of this book for me. โค๏ธ (Thank you, Ms. Carbo!)

Are you a reader? Comment below and name a book or author you like. Iโ€™ll be looking for another book series after Iโ€™m done with this one and welcome any recommendations. ๐Ÿ˜Š

A great article by WyoFile and a very relevant topic right now in many corners of the Rocky Mountain West.

On November 15 at 6 pm, wildlife biologist Tayler LaSharr will give a talk at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne as a part of our Gerald & Jessie Chambers Speakers Series about how scientists, engineers, city planners, and other professionals are using GIS (geospatial information systems) technology to track wildlife. LaSharr's research is aimed at better understanding how human development impacts Wyoming's diverse wildlife, particularly migratory animals. This talk is free and open to the public and a free screening of the Wyoming documentary Deer 139 will follow.

Controversial projects set in motion by Sublette County commissioners in the Red Desert-to-Hoback mule deer migration corridor expose shortcomings of Wyomingโ€™s migration protections.

Here's an interview LCCC English instructor Renee Nelson did with Wyoming Public Media about her upcoming true crime podcast, Unsolved Wyoming: Cold Cases and Haunted Places. We cannot wait to hear its debut!

A Cheyenne English college professor was amazed by how the Gabby Petito case struck a chord with the nation while there are so many other missing persons in the state of Wyoming. So Renee Michelle Nelson decided to create a podcast focusing on cases from marginalized communities called Unsolved Wyom...

The LCCC Communication & Creative Arts Pathway joined West Edge Collective and others for the Capital City High School Arts Show last Friday at Storey Gym in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Art students from South, East, Central, and Triumph High Schools submitted work and several organizations juried the show and awarded prizes.

LCCC's J O'Brien and Daniel Maw were on hand to award several LCCC scholarships at the event and a big congratulations goes out to all of the students with pieces in the show and to all of the art educators in Laramie County who have helped these students develop their incredible talent.

LCCC English Instructor Renee Nelson has launched a new True Crime podcast, Unsolved Wyoming, which will take a deeper approach to telling the stories of victims and survivors. Read her interview with Cowboy State Daily and follow Unsolved Wyoming: Cold Cases and Haunted Places here on Facebook!

https://cowboystatedaily.com/2022/03/22/cheyenne-teacher-launches-wyo-crime-podcast-to-give-voice-to-victims-that-media-ignores/

Renee Nelson is launching her podcast because she was struck by how much media coverage Gabby Petito's disappearance received as opposed to other victims who get little or no media attention.
