The love of creativity in art expression has spanned several generations in my family. My father, who had a huge heart, used to doodle and draw all the time. He was a crafty handyman, and could fix anything just by being a little creative, too. I feel that he left that part to me, as I have loved to draw, paint, craft and create for my entire life.
I’ve face painted at PTO events, which was my little start, and taught drawing and doodling to elementary age kids when my three spawn were young. I loved the connection. I loved giving the children, many hundreds of them, a way to express themselves. “There is no right or wrong in art,” I repeatedly taught, “Just be yourself. Express your feelings.” I even did an art therapy exercise at my former workplace, and went on that same year to teach art and crafts to an orphan camp in the remote mountains of Armenia, a 16-hour flight I took with my daughter and then four years later, my son. My youngest is due to go in a few years, to serve, to see how the other side lives, to help bring hope, in some small way. We packed, on both trips, suitcases crammed with craft items, glo-sticks, glitter - items they had never seen. We filled the cabinets with supplies so they would have 3 weeks of joy. The other volunteers and I created a full-blown American carnival, and even enlisted the older campers to make a pinata. Can you imagine? Making a paper mache pinata in the middle of Armenia? They loved it.
If you know me, you know I love kids. My passion of art and teaching children comes together with A Hardy Party. If you have any questions, need a craft made, have a special request, need a craft party or simply want a little face painting at your next event, please call me. I am more than happy to help. It’s not a job. It’s joy for me.
Best,
