19 yrs ago today, I made a decision, then I took the action..... I surrendered. I made the admission that I was powerless. One day at a time from that day forward my life and all that was around me got progressively better.
If I would have written down all of the things I though I would benefit from this decision, this action, I would have truly short changed myself. I am still a work in progress. No I haven't arrived, but every day I wake up, I know, I'm still in the race, with an opportunity to be a better me.
I've have lost, I've have gained, through it all, I have NOT found ONE reason to use. I have Not found a reason to go back to the wickedness my life had been caught up in for such a long time. I have not, one time, justified using mind and mood altering substances, mainly drugs and alcohol, as an excuse for escapism from life on life terms.
I thank GOD for redemption, mercy and grace. I thank GOD for ALL the people in my life that have supported and been a part of this journey. I am humbled by ALL the love and encouragement I have received during the last 18 years.
I share this very intimate fact about myself publicly to encourage any one struggling with the hideous disease of addiction to give hope, and encouragement.

I was once in a hopeless state of mind, body and of my soul. My spirit was non existent, I was so caught up that I didn't even know there was any other way to live.
I spent every moment in finding ways and means to get high.
Then it happened.... this thing called.. SURRENDER!
WHEWWWWW!!!!
I took a breath and gave myself a break.
One day at a time I found my way out. I found out that Hope lives and I could too!
Today I awaken by GOD'S grace with an opportunity to get it right.
If there is anyone out there struggling with the disease of addiction, know that I pray for you everyday. Know that there is hope. Know that you too can find a new way of life.
One day at a time, I will continue to KCB!
