Sometimes my favorite photos aren’t the planned ones. After Sasha and Clinton said I do at city hall we strolled up to the river. And then we planned on ending at the Wrigley building. It’s was chilly so I doubted that they wanted to walk it, but to my delight they were up for it! There are so many good books and angles along the way that we wouldn’t have got otherwise, including this one :) The perfect way to end 2024!

That’s a wrap for 2024! My groom took this photo of me that pretty much sums up my year. Camera in one hand, dogs in the other. (My couples dogs. I was holding them while I tried to get some shots of just the couple. Multitasking is an artform). Just Smiling and loving my city. I’m very lucky to have a job that I love and get to work with so many amazing couples. But I am very very ready for a couple slower months to let my body recover and tackle the mountain of editing I have to do. Cheers to an amazing year! 🥂

I honestly don’t even know how I’m still alive at this point but glad to be here! It has been the busiest December ever. I’m going to be totally unavailable the 23rd-26th and then back at it for 2 more city hall weddings to end the year. I can’t even explain how lucky I feel to be doing what I love. Even if it’s sometimes very stressful (she says as she’s still trying to get one more gallery done before tomorrow).
And congrats to Steve and Natalia. She wins the award for being 100% complaint free in the freezing cold weather last week. But as she put it “It’s fine. I’m Russian.” Officiant : Hair & Makeup :

City hall has been my second home this year, but I have no complaints because I’ve gotten to work with so many amazing couples. Annika and Mack are definitely one of my favorites. They said I do surrounded by family and then braved some very cold temps for photos. I met back up with them later for a party with a few more guests at . I love downtown Chicago this time of year! It’s all decked out for the holidays and people are out shopping and holiday music is being played. So of course we took full advantage of the beauty of State Street when we were out for Jess and Antonio’s wedding last week.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I love downtown when it’s all decked out for the holidays. We got a little hint of it for Whitney and Mike’s wedding before Thanksgiving.
I am still very busy in December and my current turnaround for editing is 3 months. This is normal for me this time of year. I know everyone wants their photos. I am only on person who is just doing their best. And is going to spend most of the day tomorrow at the hospital getting my infusion for my Crohn’s. I can only do so much. I’m supposed to be on a self imposed social media break, but given the election results I’m breaking my ban to say this. I always have and always will support same s*x marriage. I believe you should be able to love whoever you love and marry that person should you want to do so. I will continue to support and love our couples in the LGBTQIA community.

If you had asked me Sunday I would have said I was ready to stop taking any more bookings for this year. But today I’m mad as hell and have already gotten 3 inquires of couples from other states wanting to come get married here. Chicago is a blue dot in a sea of red and we will welcome everyone who is seeking to get married here in Illinois.

And if you think I’m overreacting please unfollow me. No one thought Roe v Wade would get overturned either and here we are. My friends are scared. My couples are scared. I love you all and I support your choices.

Did I photograph one of the most gorgeous elopements ever this week? Yes. Were my calves on fire from walking so much in the sand with all my gear? Also yes. Would I do it again? 100%. Kathy and Austin said I do at Gillson Beach in Wilmette surrounded by gorgeous fall color. Friday’s wedding was a dream. Everything was perfection. The couple was so in love and just a joy to be with. The weather was unreal. Every location we went out on a show of why Chicago is the best. Hannah and I connected via our love of dogs and so there was no doubt that the dogs would be included in the engagement session. So Mochi and Rhys took their parents for a stroll around Wicker park and then grabbed some beers at a brewery where they took a nap. Being cute is hard work.

Let’s talk about this badass woman ran the on Sunday and then put on a gown and heels on Monday and rocked this anniversary session at North Ave! I don’t even know how she was still standing let alone wearing heels. She and her husband Clinton elopement on this weekend last year when they were here for the marathon so I was thrilled when she reached out to do a session again. More anniversary sessions please!

I had so much fun at Dan and Rob’s wedding Saturday. I laughed. I cried. And I was working the whole time I can only imagine how guests must have felt! These two are so amazing and their friends and family made me feel like I’d know them forever. It was hands down the best ceremony I’ve ever witnessed (and that’s saying a lot from someone with 16 years in the wedding industry) and legit if there is a video of it I’d watch it weekly. Yesterday I felt like I took a mini vacation when I went to Michigan for Grace and John’s engagement session. I joined them in their lakeside town just over the border as they showed me some of their favorite spots and ended with this gorgeous sunset on the beach. It made this city girl think that she needs a vacation home on the lake haha. A girl can dream….
