My brain is not understanding how this year is almost over. While I am ready for a slow down so I can catch up on editing and life in general, I’m so grateful for all of our 2025 couples.
And if you got something shiny this holiday season I’m booking 2026 for elopements, small weddings and a handful of bigger non traditional weddings.

After sending off this gallery I realized I have barely shared anything from it and I need to fix that because it was an amazing day. I don’t do a lot of big wedding anymore but when I do they are typically for amazing people who still aren’t going the “traditional” route. Naomi and Jake said I do on a yacht at navy pier before setting sail for their dinner and dancing cruise. And that red dress will@forever be a favorite! Once upon a time in a October I was at South Pond in Lincoln Park finishing up one of my dog sessions for the calendar. As we were wrapping up a couple girls approached me and said “hey our sister is on her way here and her boyfriend is proposing but their photographer cancelled last minute. Can you help us?”. And 20 minutes later I was photographing David down on one knee popping the question to Alyssa! She she said and her sister are the cutest coordinators hiding in the bushes until the right moment. We took a few quick photos and off they went. Proposals give me seriously anxiety usually but I didn’t have time to think or plan this one so it was the best! Congrats to the couple! 💍

Chicago weather was wild this week. It snowed on Monday and Saturday was 65 degrees! And on Tuesday Taylor and Matt said I do. I don’t know that they were planning on a winter wedding, but the combination of snow and fall color was really unique. And despite the chilly temps they were all smiles! Congrats to the newlyweds!

Hot take : All weddings should have confetti rooms! The second Savannah mentioned getting married on Halloween at the ideas were already swirling in my head. And it was even better than I imagined. I’d fire my social media manager for lack of posting, but it’s me. So here is a gorgeous intimate wedding I did in Lake Forest a few weeks ago.
Samantha and Alex said I do at her parents house which they transformed into the cutest ceremony space. We headed to downtown Lake Forest for some photos including a stop at her mom’s bookstore - which is so cute. And then joined up with everyone again at to continue the celebrations. Congrats to the newlyweds!

Again today felt like a really heavy day, but I decided to share some joy instead of just doom scrolling. That joy comes in the form of Patrick and Brenden’s wedding! I’ve actually known Patrick for a few years as he is often the point person for weddings at the Lily Pool and we all know I love that space. So it was nice for a change to have email me instead of me bothering him with permit questions! I was truly honored that he reached out about photographing his wedding day to Brenden and it’s didn’t disappoint!
They had an intimate ceremony at the Lily Pool (obviously) before hosting a larger dinner and reception that evening at . The love and joy in the room was so real and powerful. So when I was feeling down today looking through their photos and being reminded that love always wins was what I needed. Congrats to the newlyweds!

I kicked off October with this gorgeous intimate wedding in Oakbrook. I don’t think any of us expected it to be near 90 at the start of October but we got the most gorgeous light (and some sweat) for portraits at Fullersburg Woods before heading to Gibson’s Oakbrook for their ceremony and reception. Congrats to the newlyweds Lorna and Sam!

I haven’t been posting here much lately and it’s not because I don’t have amazing photos and couples to share, because I do. I have so many.

It’s just hard to find the words and the joy right now when the world feels so heavy. It’s feels weird to be like “here are happy people and everything is great” when kids are getting pulled out their beds in the middle of the night and zip tied and peaceful protestors are getting pepper bullets shot at them and people are getting Kidnapped off the streets because of how they look and the color of their skin.

I don’t know what the answer is. And I don’t want to not celebrate my couples. Maybe that’s what I should be doing even more to show off this city that I love filled with great people and culture and diversity.

No city is perfect. But I love Chicago and there is no where I’d rather be.

So apologies for any of couples who I haven’t posted or shared about. It’s not you. Just every time I open this app I want to cry and scream and fight watching the horrible things happening to my neighbors. And then I go to post something and my brain just can’t find the right words without feeling tone deaf to what’s happening around us. And I realize I’m a white lady living in Lincoln Park so I’m not even first hand experiencing all the things. I am all over the city for photos but I’m with people on their best days. But I’m still feeling the weight of it all. And it’s very very heavy right now.
