Quite a revolution has been seen in the real estate world over the past few decades.

As in any profession, there are those who do it well and those who do it poorly. But enter the world of social media, and everything changes.

What a great invention to be able to “tour” a home from the comfort of your computer desk, at any hour of the day or night. We don’t have to get in a car, go anywhere or waste time on ill-suited properties.

But one Chico agent has come up with a pretty inventive way to use social media in another way. Brandi Carroll Laffins of Re/Max developed a fun Facebook advertising campaign that checks out local eateries. Don’t we love food news?

Laffins and her team enter and take a look around local restaurants, from the menu to chatting with the chef. It’s an inventive Facebook post, and certainly puts Laffins and her team in your eyes. Everyone pitches in with comments, signs or funny quips.

What a great idea. They could just mosey through the house of the hour, but they are developing relationships with Facebook viewers.

I noticed last week, they’re “expanding” into other areas, this time promoting the local Salvation Army’s Santa Shuffle fun run and walk. When I saw it, the The Laffins Team had gotten five comments, two shares, and 1,000 views.

While it was paid advertising through Facebook, it certainly achieved more than name recognition.
