I’ve noticed a lot more new people checking out my page recently, so I thought I’d take a minute to tell you a little bit about myself and my experience in dance.
I grew up in White Lake Twp, Michigan and began dancing around the age of 5.
I was taught mostly the Cicchetti Style of Dance and was tested up through grade IV, though I did also study Russian Style though Grade II. I began pointe at the age of 9, and performed in many groups and solo routines. I also helped assist my teacher instructing and choreographing younger students around my middle school years. I also danced jazz and competed in gymnastics during those formative years.
I graduated high school in 1996 and I thought that was the end of my dance career as I entered adult hood. Though I did still take some adult ballet classes on occasion.
In 1998 a friend told me about an Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Northville, Michigan looking for a female instructor. I was hired on the spot with no ballroom experience and quickly learned the basics enough to teach beginners within a months time.
There at that studio, I received top notch training from some of the most elite professional ballroom competitors at the time. I soaked up all I could and became Full Bronze certified in a years time.
I began to train competitively and unfortunately some personal reasons led me to leave that world behind, until 2005.
I moved to Chillicothe with my husband then and began teaching ballroom again at Simply Dancing in Circleville. I worked for the best people there who treated me like family as did all the students. I was able to take time off when my first pregnancy had some risks in the first trimester, as well as a lengthy postpartum time, and not to mention all the time off for accompanying my husbands travel schedule. Which eventually led to my quitting in 2009 to focus on my growing family’s needs more.
I have however, always been willing to share my love of dance with whomever wants to learn. I can choreograph a dance to a special song, or just teach you the basics of social dance.
I have some decent floor space to work with where I’m at, or I can travel within Chillicothe to you. I am a wife and mother first, as well as a Realtor®️, this is a side gig that I do not advertise or pursue loudly, but it’s something I absolutely have a passion for and cannot imagine my life without dance in it
I can teach you some basics to ballroom that will help you gain confidence and style on the dance floor and, it will be lots of fun.
So what are you waiting for?
