1975 Mardi Gras Cajun Country

Although most people typically associate Mardi Gras with Bourbon Street and the French Quarter in New Orleans, there is another Mardi Gras tradition that has been practiced for generations in Louisiana's Cajun Country.
In 1975, video pioneers TVTV produced the documentary "The Good Times Are Killing Me" about the people they met in the towns of Basile, Mamou, and Eunice, Louisiana. The video documented the old culture and way of life, including the traditional Courir de Mardi Gras or "Mardi Gras Run," a celebration involving masked revelers riding from house to house begging for live chickens and other ingredients for use in a communal gumbo.
The production crew for "The Good Times are Killing Me" includes Wendy Appel, Paul Goldsmith, Peter Hliddal, Robby Kenner, Hudson Marquez, David Myers, Allen Rucker, and Suzanne Tedesko.

"Cajun Night Before Christmas" as Read by Chet Dixon
Directed by Annalee Autumn Read by Chet Dixion
"In December 2015, Annalee Autumn's friend, actor Chet Dixon posted a picture of the book “Cajun Night Before Christmas” on his page. He commented, “Please have someone record a video of you reading this!” Then he realized, he could just shoot it! So he invited him over and they shot this video of his amazing reading of the classic “Cajun” Christmas story. This book was part of his holiday tradition growing up in Galvez, Louisiana, Ascension Parish, near Gonzales. "They hope you and your family enjoy it!"
