Hey! Let's chat about wedding invitations and when to send them out 💌

There's no ✨exact right✨ timeline to follow. Each stationery designer's timeline might vary a bit depending on how many stationery suites they take on, what the standard for that area is, how they've found their own success with invitations, etc.

THAT BEING SAID, this is the timeline that works for us. It give us enough time to work with you and your overall wedding aesthetic to come up with a cohesive look that you and your fiance love -- but also the ✨perfect✨ first glance of your wedding to get your guests just as excited as you are!

Looking for custom wedding stationery that matches the aesthetic and vibes of your upcoming wedding?

HERE ARE SOME TIPS:

💍 Spring for at least 2 cards: the main invitation and a details card.

💍 Keep your main invitation cards SIMPLE. Don't bog down your invitation with transportation details, hotel things, and other small details. Your main invitation is for the BIG details. Your names, the date and time of your ceremony, where it takes place, and if there's a reception after. That's all the information you need!

💍 Having a details page is where all the information goes. Transportation available, your hotel blocks with the discount code, RSVP information, and wedding website -- all that good stuff can live on your details card.

💍 If you're having a mail in RSVP, be sure to include a pre-addressed envelope with stamp

✨WEDDING PARTY✨

Here's a quick list of things to do to prep for your besties wedding day:

🎉 Have breakfast prepped and ready -- besides all the delicious foods and drinks, make sure you bring flatware, plates, and cups!

🎉 Steam dresses, shirts, etc. It's best to use distilled water to prevent mineral deposit stains!

🎉 Communicate with family as needed -- make sure you and the other wedding party members take care of any issues that may arise, the couple doesn't need to worry about it 👍🏼

🤎 A room full of love (and attention of detail) 🤎

Soooo, who's giving speeches at your wedding reception?

I'm always of the belief that there isn't a "right" way to wedding -- and that includes for speeches! But here are my recommendations:

Who should give speeches:
- the honorary people in your wedding party (generally one on each side)
- you and your spouseeee
- a parent (specifically if they helped financially with the wedding)

Tell your speech givers to keep their message short and sweet, try for around 2-3 minutes.

Write it on paper to keep that phone glow out of your face (your photographers and videographers will thank you!)

My super personal opinion is that I'm not a fan the intro "hi, for those of you who don't know me, I'm ###XX, the maid of honor/ best man/ man of honor / etc etc etc" -- I get it, it does make sense.... But usually the DJ says who you are and wedding party position -- and then we get the same information again. If you REALLY want to introduce yourself, say your relation to the couple (that's probably info the DJ won't give). Example: "Hey everyone, I'm Kelsey -- I've been best friends with the bride since we were in Tumbling Toddlers together"

Don't want to do a first look, but still want a love filled moment before your wedding ceremony?

First Touch is a nice and happy medium between first look and the traditional not-seeing-each-other-before -the-ceremony. This is a great time to have a conversation, exchange love letters about your excitement of getting married to your favorite person, and a nice moment to hold hands to cheer each other on for the next steps of life together.

Remember to add moments of time in your wedding timeline to reflect!

Wedding Day can be such a blur for couples because they are going from one thing to another and each thing is such a big and special moment -- WHICH IS SO FUN.

Planning times to step back and watch the special moments around you will help you remember the time and catch your breath.

I recommend taking one right after your ceremony before family portraits. Just you and your spouse chatting all about the mornings you had, how much you loved the ceremony, the silly guest that brought a video camera, and just reflecting on the time.

When I have meetings with potential wedding clients, one of the first things I ask is to name 3-4 priorities of their wedding day.

WHY?

Your priorities are where you splurge (to an extent). Whether it's photography and splurging on your dream photographer or late night snacks priorities and splurging on delicious little treats throughout the night -- the parts of the day that are most important to you should get your attention.

The smaller details that aren't so important to you (like do you hate guest party favors?) don't need as much of your attention, and you don't need to spend 7 arms and 8 legs on.

As wedding season starts up, here's tips how to be a SUPERB wedding guest:

💍 It's not your wedding, don't yuck their yums
💍 Be on time (that includes RSVPing on time, arriving to the ceremony before it begins, etc)
💍 Be courteous to their rules -- if it's an unplugged wedding, put that phone, camera, camcorder awayyyy
💍 Danceeee.
💍 If you're getting them a gift, find something off their registry or give them dollars 💰
💍 Hype up the couple!

How do you let guests know that they cannot bring a plus one?

Here's a couple quick texts you can steal from us:

"We're choosing to keep our wedding small and intimate, but we look forward to meeting your partner soon!"

"Unfortunately, we are at max capacity for our venue and are unable to include any other people outside our guest list"

"Our resources are limited and we're unable to accommodate additional guests"

"Um, no"

Online RSVPs help dodge some of these awkward conversations -- on most sites, when they look up their name, it'll have the rest of the guests from the party listed below.

Some things to practice before your wedding day:

1. Your first kiss. It sounds silly, FOR SURE, but like, it's getting photographed! Maybe you just do a little peck, maybe you do a full blown make out sesh (don't recommend 🤷🏻‍♀️), or maybe you're doing a super elegant dip! Practice it, people!

2. Ceremony exit. If one or both of you have flower bouquets, make sure to practice grabbing them, linking arms, stopping halfway down, and having a final kiss photo before leaving the ceremony space ✌🏼(same deal if neither of you have bouquets -- just don't grab them before you link up)

3. First dance. You don't have to have a choreographed dance, but maybe practice a couple dance moves, a lil twirl, a dip.... Or like just full send doing that crazy lift from Dirty Dancing 🕺🏼

Want to enjoy the most out of your cocktail hour?

The key is to plan your pre-ceremony and family portraits post-ceremony out properly! Along with getting ready, you'll need time for pictures of you and your spouse, your wedding party, both sides of the fam, etc etc etc -- which can take time!

Wedding planners are wizards when it comes to creating timelines with the help of all your other wedding vendors!

Be sure to voice what the most important aspects are of your day are, so you can have the most time and undivided attention during those events!

Check out this variation! Depending on the meal choice, guests have a different color bow. It adds a bit of pizazz and personality to each place setting.

That will leave time for human error (maybe your hair and make-up starts a tad later), it'll give you time to eat some food, hang out with friends and family, and a bit of time to decompress.

Is your wedding ceremony and wedding reception in the same spot? You may be doing a room flip!

A room flip is when the ceremony and reception take place in the same spot. Typically, the guests will be whisked away to a different room for cocktail hour and then staff will move away the ceremony elements and put the tables in place for the reception. This flip can take up to an hour!

Don't be rushed on your wedding morning. This is the time for you to relax, reflect on the amazingness of your relationship, gush over all the details you planned, and take in how important this day is.
