I know--I know--everyone has been waiting for updates on Mark and Steve so---

Both are doing well and both are doing exactly what the Doctor and Therapists are telling them to do (more like what their wives, Laurie and Angie, are telling them).

Steve is playing the guitar and singing as part of his therapy. I spoke with Angie yesterday and everything seems to be on track for Steve to out of rehab and ready to perform his Christmas events.

Mark is "magicing", being funny and, well, being Mark. I actually spoke with him and he sounded great and thanked everyone for "caring".

Keep the positive energy heading to Reno and Bakersfield and, I am sure, we will see both of them doing "their thing" in 2024.

For anyone here who has not seen the news about Mark Price, he had a major heart attack and bypass surgery last week at Cedar Sinai. He came home a couple days ago. I spoke with him this morning. He is on lots of meds but says he is doing exactly what he has been told to do (I bet Laurie is making darned sure about that).

Anyway, keep all that good healing energy going for these Mark and Steve. They are a very big part of our extended fair family and we want them well.

I have not been on Facebook much lately so I am a little behind. I just found this about one of our favorite entertainers Steve Lord:

Angela Lord is with Candace Hickman and 3 others

Stephen was taken to the hospital this past Monday as he was in bed and disoriented and had an infection in his body.
From Sean: For anyone that knows my dad, he is currently in the hospital and barely communicating. When he does talk he says that he feels like this is the end for him. I think it would be helpful to share a video with him if all the people that care about him and what they love about him. If you know my dad and want to share, please send videos to me here on Facebook. Read Sara’s message for the results
Sara M Davis is with Candace Hickman and 2 others

Update: CT came back, lungs are clear but they noticed some compression fractures in his back. They do think he had a fall just not sure when and why he had a seizure. He is talking just a little sore. You're words have really helped heal and bring him back to his cocky self.

Guess what---It's baaaack!! I actually heard a phone ring yesterday and had no idea where it was. It's on my desk and rang several times already. Of course of the 6 calls in yesterday, 3 of them were computer calls!

Anyway, the Internet is working and the phone is working (she says very quietly so as not to "spook" either one) so, it appears we are back in business. YAY!!!

Hope everyone has a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend.

I know--I know---
Since January 20 (yes, over 2 months) we have had nothing but trouble with phones. It was interesting--I could call out and it never occurred to me that I wasn't getting many calls since most people use e-mail. Then I heard-"I have called and called. It rings and rings and no one or VM ever picks up". what I found out from an AT&T Tech--anyone on any service not AT&T could not get through. The calls I was getting were from AT&T customers.

Okay, time to get it fixed and the VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) system up and running like it should. But wait--- that can't happen yet because it's not Viking's "turn".

I'm guessing on this part but, apparently it became Viking's turn on Saturday late afternoon. Whatever was done pushed us off the Internet and now there is no in or out phone.

PLEASE--use e-mail to get in touch with me. I have Internet again and have figured out how to use my phone's hotspot if I lose the system again. MAYBE this will all be resolved soon---maybe.
Thank you for your patience.

PLEASE---if you are trying to contact us, use the e-mail [email protected]. We do not check Facebook often so e0mail is the quickest way to contact Viking and get replies. Thank you.

Good November 1st!

This is the beginning of the "HOLIDAY" season. There are many holidays taking place between now and the first of January. Of course, everyone knows about Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas. Most have heard of Diwali, Kwanzaa, Dia de los Muertas and Boxing Day. Have you heard of Omisoka, Japanese New Year, St. Lucia's Day celebrated in Sweden and Norway. With many of the traditions passed along to Santa Claus, the Feast of St. Nicholas is celebrated in much of northern Europe on December 6. Holiday lesson for today!!

This is also the season when everyone is asking about working in the coming 2023 fair season. We have begun researching a few acts requested by a couple fairs. We will start on community acts, bands, stage shows and some strolling after
the WFA Convention in January.

If you want to contact Viking, please send an e-mail, [email protected] or call, 559-324-9393. Since we are not on the page all the time, we may not see a message left there. E-mail is always the best way to contact us.

Hope you had an amazing 2022 and we are all looking forward to an even better 2023.

Thank you.

Judie and Jason

To all of you who have been "around" for a while, I received some bad news this morning. As Mickey "the Clown" McCarthy put it "Aunt Mary's Art Center is closed". Mary Dewall, wife of Wacky Willie the Clown crossed over this morning. She has been ill for a while but became bedridden around the end of May.

Mary was a kind and loving person who, after all, lived with a "clown" her whole life. She actually wrote a letter to me, the kind you put in an envelope with a stamp and put in a mailbox, each Christmas. I, of course, wrote a letter back. I know she had not been well for some time but she never complained just filled me in on all the kids, grandkids, great grandkids and Willie's latest building project.

I do not have more details right now but wanted people who remember Mary and Willie to know what is going on in the "fairyland" Bill built for Mary in Kelseyville.

I don't know about you but I am REALLY tired of META/FACEBOOK screwing around with my page--GRRRRRRR! Anyway, if you are interested in getting in touch with Viking, please e-mail at [email protected]. As many of you may know, we lost a very dear part of our fair family. Ed Russell from the Russell Brothers Circus made this final journey on Tuesday, January 18. For more than 40 years, Ed presented and performed in the Russell Brothers Family Circus with his son, Stephen Smedley. Ed was well known on the fair circuit as the sweet "curmudgeon" who introduced thousands of children to the thrill of the circus. Ed will be missed by all who have worked with him over the years. Our hearts are broken for this loss and our healing thoughts are with Stephen Smedley.

It's getting to be "that" time of year again---entertainers looking for gigs. After the Western Fairs Convention the middle of January, we will start working with our fairs. If you are interested, PLEASE, do not message us on this site. You need to contact us via e-mail, [email protected]. If you are new to Viking, you will need to send along your website, Facebook, whatever you have that shows us what you can do for the fairs.

Again, please do not message us on Facebook. We are not always here, get busy and forget to check. E-mail ([email protected]) is checked many, many times a day.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you in Reno for theWFA Convention & Trade Show or hearing from you via e-mail. Hope everyone has a safe, healthy and very happy holiday season.

Keeping our fingers crossed for next year.

It's May 4th--yes, may it be with you and all that.

There are just a few things we need to let you know about. Yes, some fairs are opening and will be running their normal dates. Others will be open but will change their dates to later in the year. As of right now, "May the 4th", we have very little information on how any of the fairs will work all this out. Several are moving into October. This changes the dynamic of each event due to kids in school, weather, shorter runs and/or leftover restrictions. Until we know for sure what is happening, there is very little we can do or tell you.

As of the last correspondence from our fairs, Alameda is running October 22-31; Ventura is canceled completely; Antelope Valley will be October 1-10 and Kern County has not decided what they will do.

Thank you for hanging in there with us during this "interesting" time. When we have more information, we will let everyone know.

In the meantime, May is Fairgrounds Appreciation month. If you are working, please take photos, post and tag WFA. This will give us all a chance to celebrate our industry.

It's almost the end of January and we are still in limbo as to what may or may not be happening in 2021. at least on the West Coast. We are all hoping for "opening" so we can get back to work but totally understand we need vaccinations and numbers to go down.

With that said, if you are interested in sending promo material or just want to "talk", please forward your information to [email protected]. We monitor the e-mail each day.

Hope you are staying healthy and looking forward to a much better year.

Okay---we are still a long ways from "back to normal" but, the elections are over (no more political commercials) and the vaccine is coming to your state and town any day now. It will still be a long time but, finally, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

The Western Fairs 2021 Virtual Convention runs from January 4-6. I'm fairly sure we will get some insight into how everyone is feeling, have lots of discussions and, possibly, get information about fairs and their openings in California and the West Coast.

If you are a WFA member and want to be involved with the convention, go to wesetrnfairs.org and get more information. You can also go to the WFA Service Members page where we post information every week.

I can tell you, no one wants to get back to work anymore than Viking does. It has been a very long and lean year and I know we are far from alone. So, until we can all be together doing what we love, stay safe, stay healthy, get your vaccination when it's available and celebrate the season of lights through Hanukkah, Kwanza and Christmas and have a very Happy New Year.

Hope to "see" many of you in January at the Convention.

2020 has been such a stressful, exciting and different year but we only have a few more weeks and we will get to the end---we hope.
To all our friends and the wonderful and fun entertainers we have worked with over the years, we want to wish you a wonderful and "tummy filling" Thanksgiving.

Good afternoon to all. It's been a while since I have posted here and, it is not because I have been working! Like many/most of you, Viking has been on a COVID vacation for the year 2020.

Staying positive has not always been easy but, for the most part, Netflix has helped 😁 . We have been collecting new information from acts, "retooling" our office, home and yard and generally staying busy doing things we don't usually have time to do reading, cleaning, tossing. This way, we will be ready for all the Fair openings in 2021. ❀️

The Western Fairs 2021 Convention will be totally virtual so, no hugs but we will be "together" for a few days (January 4-6).

We are keeping our fingers crossed we get to be with all of our fair friends and family very soon. Until then, we hope everyone stays healthy and safe.
