Clovis Haunted Trail is Back!
Halloween Walking Experience Inspired by local Art non-profit.
For the fourth year in a row, the Clovis Haunted Trail is set to open to trick or treaters the last weekend in October. The Clovis Haunted Trail is scary haunted, outdoor, walking experience designed to thrill those who love Halloween and all scary things. You can expect to hear eerie music, foggy trees, and spooky lighting. Live zombies, creepy clowns, ghosts, and skeletons climbing about. Headstones, a pumpkin patch, hay bales, and creepy dolls, all displayed on the Fresno / Clovis Trail.
The event is a 2000-foot walking experience that starts at one spot and ends at another (one way). The exact location is behind the Parkway Trails Shopping Center on the Northeast corner of Willow and Nees avenue in Clovis, California. The walking experience is on the Fresno Clovis Trail and features 17 scary zones, a haunted maze, photo opportunities, and of course, candy. βItβs fun to change up the event every year with different scare zones and create things out of the ordinary.β Explained Falina Marihart, Creator of the event. βI love seeing everyone dressed up and having fun.β
Back by popular demand is the Kids Hour on Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th from 5pm to 6pm. During this time, younger children experience scare zones without the fear of being scared by a scare actor. In fact, some friendly scare actors will be handing out candy. Kids Hour is a great time because it is naturally lighter outside, and parents can come back after dark to enjoy the event with the same adult ticket. Parents must make good judgement when deciding to bring young children to the event. No pets are allowed at the event for their safety.
Who benefits from all the effort? Local non-profit, Arts Enrichment for All, was created to encourage youth of the Central Valley to step away from screens and actively participate in the visual and performing arts. Arts Enrichment for All addresses this through community outreach programs that engage underserved students by bringing opportunities to them, thereby removing major obstacles, such as transportation or financial barriers.
Studies show that when students are involved in an arts program they are:
β’ 44% less likely to use drugs
β’ 4x more likely to be recognized for academic achievement
β’ 3x more likely to graduate high school
"Arts Enrichment for All is so excited to partner with the Clovis Haunted Trial this year to further its mission of bring access to the arts to students in the Central Valley. The whole production being created allows students to experience behind the scenes in set design, costuming, acting, sound and lighting design in a real-world application. How cool is that?!" Explained Erin Burd, Executive Director.
Most of the volunteers are Buchanan High School students, but any student can participate. They take part and earn service hours for school as part of fulfilling the requirements for community service for college applications and scholarships. βItβs a win-win for everyone who participates, and the students do an excellent job as scare actors and other supporting roles during the event.β Explained Falina Marihart.
There are many sponsors who have contributed money, services, and items for the event. Mono Wind Casino in Auberry has supported the event in the last four years. As the presenting sponsor, they contribute at least 30 percent of the cost of the production. Local businesses like Kids Kare Schools, Parkway Trails Shopping Center, VisitFresnoCounty.com, DCL Technology, Valley Fence, PC Solutions, 13 Prime Steak, Yolked Kitchen and Ritcher Feed and Supply are supporters of the event this year.
The Clovis Haunted Trail adds, yet another attraction to the City of Clovis supporting their motto βThe Clovis Way of Life.β
