Like an amazing mentor just shared "work in the industry, play in the industry".
As a Wedding, Event and Retreat Coordinator I give alot! I love my business and my calling but it would be silly to encourage something I myself dont experience as a participant.
So, every year I find one amazing retreat where I get poured into, refreshed and reignited to come home and pour back into my business and my family!

This year its a bit closer to home and driveable so I have lots of time to think, pray and dream!

First things first, Congratulations! This is such an exciting time and you may be feeling excited an overwhelmed and event a little anxious at what's next! Thats ok and completely normal!

First, I recommend taking a little time to savor the news! Celebrate with friends, family or just the two of you. There is no need to rush into the wedding planning right away!

When you ready heres' the top 5 things to tackle first.
1) A BUDGET. Discuss with your fiance how you will pay for the event. You will refer to this through the entire process and you do not want to book anything until you know your limits!
2) A DATE. Discuss with your fiance the date you two want. Be prepared with a back up date "just in case". A date may or may not help determine your vendor or venue selection
3) YOUR DREAM VENUE. What kind of theme are you looking for? Indoor? Outdoor? Make a list and schedule tours. If its a destination location then ask about face time or zoom to see the venue as best as possible. Your date may determine your venue and visa versa.
4) YOUR DREAM VENDORS. Are there vendors you have always wanted to work with? A favorite baker for your cake? A top notch florist whose work you love? Book those asap. Again, your date may determine your vendor and visa versa.
5) A WEDDING PLANNER. First- a venue coordinator is NOT a wedding planner. A venue coordinator cares about the details of the venue, not the details of your wedding! Your decision to hire a wedding planner may be up in the air or you may not see the need at first. But it will be worth every penny if you choose the right one! You can hire a planner for the whole planning process, a few months before the wedding, the month of coordination, or even the day of coordination.

5 years ago today I picked up one of my most special friends from the airport, in preparation for MY wedding. Little did she know that Janet Lynn O'Hare would help me soo much that she would open my eyes to the reality of how much every bride needs an organized wedding coordinator....5 years later, I love my job and I still think about "JB"'s part in where I am today!!! Thanks friend!! I love you!!
