Only two weekends left until Halloween! 🎃

Unfortunately, due to the chance of rain this afternoon, most animatronics and the projector will remain put up tonight. Everything else will be on as usual. 👻

Looking ahead at the forecast, I expect everything to be out tomorrow and Sunday, so plan stop by later in the weekend for the full effect.

Happy Friday the 13th!!

As we get closer to Halloween, we are starting to see traffic pick up outside, especially over the weekend. As a heads up, the forecast is calling for rain tonight and through a good chunk of tomorrow. Most animatronics will either be lying down/covered or moved inside completely and depending on the amount of rain, the lights may also be shut off. If you are planning a visit soon, I would recommend waiting until Sunday or even next weekend.

Keep an eye out for another predator of the night out around town. It’s a shame that people feel entitled to take what isn’t theirs and is up for everyone else to enjoy. I know first-hand how discouraging it is to get your props stolen!

I just recently moved from Columbus to Scipio. I set up a new halloween prop that I got as a housewarming gift, and the first night it was up, it was stolen by morning. I'm reaching out here to try and get the word out, it's 9 ft tall and 13 ft wide (so pretty unmistakable) if you have seen it or have heard anything about it please let me know or contact the Jennings Co. sheriff

One of the best parts of going all out for Halloween has been meeting so many neighbors who take extra walks in the fall to see the display. I spend most of the rest of my time inside, so it’s good to have something to kind of bring people together. Even better that it’s in my front yard, so the commute is short.

This year’s spider has been a bit of a community project by some of the skellies’ biggest fans (or smallest, given most of them are about 3 feet tall). I had some help putting the spider’s legs on over Labor Day weekend (thanks, Logan!!) and this week I had a whole crew to help me add a bunch of little spiders to my spider webs. As fast as I could unpackage the spiders, these kids - 4 or 5 of them at one point - were getting them on the webs and ready for more. I wish I had gotten some photos, but we were very busy. 😆 I think we all had fun and it saved me a ton of time on what would have otherwise been a lengthy 1-woman job! 🕷️🕷️

I think I’ve finally figured out how to harness my powers as the friendly neighborhood witch. 🧙🏻‍♀️

We are finally approaching completion! I’ve still got some of the regular-sized skellies to put out (and I’m looking for some inspiration if you’ve got any) along with a few other miscellaneous items, but we are SO CLOSE that I couldn’t help but spend some time snapping these photos last night.

What is your favorite part so far this year? Personally I’m in love with Lethal Lily (the witch in the first photo) and her tree o’ critters! 🧙🏻‍♀️🕷️

I got my first Skeletons for St. Jude donation of the year via the QR code on the sign in my display yesterday afternoon. I’m officially 9% of the way to my personal goal of$2,000 and we have surpassed $15k nationwide for the year already!

I’ve added a sprinkling of new items throughout this week, including this cat that I am calling “Finn” after my own trouble-making black cat.

Ol’ pumpkin head is taller than his mama already! Y’all know what tomorrow is?

These are two of the new skeleton varieties I’ve picked up this year. The “rotten patch” pumpkin skeleton on the right is a bit taller than my standard-size skeletons, while the one on the left is a new “ultra poseable” variety. He is upgraded with more realistic looking eyes and joints that move in different directions, including joints in his fingers. ✌🏻✌🏻

I’m looking forward to creating new scenes with the ability to contort my skelly friends into new poses!
