When agreeing to do an event I’m always excited, everyday leading up to it I’m thinking about how happy the people will be seeing their decorations, their name, the lights, everything that makes it special. This event was a little different, from the moment I accepted it I knew ”happiness” was not the end goal here, I had to show that everyone here has memories, has a family, some of these people didn’t get memorial services, none of them ever got to say goodbye. My brother/cousin is on this walkway. It was hard to keep myself from thinking about that the entire duration of this set up and the days leading up to it. If I needed help my first thought is always ”Ethan would be here helping me” or “Ethan would be good at this”. Seeing the volunteers and organizations there dedicated to helping those who are struggling is a bitter sweet feeling, I’m so glad to see people helping but it always makes me wonder what they went through to want to help others. If no one is proud of you, I am. If you’re struggling to get sober please get help, please talk to someone, please stay on earth another day, your family needs you. Thank you so much to the M-Cope Volunteers who helped blow up and tie balloons and thank Montgomery County Overdose Prevention Endeavor (M-COPE) for hosting such and amazing event.
Anything to keep the parties poppin’ ✨ #eventdecor
