Let us come bring the farm to your next church, camp, school, daycare, birthday party or corporate event. We have several options to choose from. Petting Pen- guests get to enter to pet & feed the duck, bunnies, chickens and oat or sheep. Creature Encounter- guests get to pet our snake & chinchilla, come up close and personal with our frog, and fish, and feed our cockatiels! Pony Rides- Our pony,

Phillip, is gentle and can carry up to 85 pounds or so. Bounce houses- we have 2 12’x12’ moon walk bounce houses. Give us a call at 432-889-9042

For this event, our two youngest goats, Rudi & Forest, came out for the first time together. And our three young chickens lined up to pose for the camera! I didn’t realize til later that it was while the kiddos lined up to play red light green light. Do ya think they instinctively followed their cue?

I debated on whether or not to post this. It looks like chaos, but it shows the aftermath of 2 hours of kids exploring animals & showing compassion and care for animals. Things most kids do t get to experience too often anymore.

They moved frozen water bottles around to “air condition the animals” with the frozen water bottles from home in the 100° heat. They also brought them water in cups, and some tried to fill them with grass to feed. (I brought water, but who’d choose a water bucket over fresh water from the sink served in a cup.)

Most importantly, this sweet birthday girl was interpreting what our duck Sy was whispering to her. 😉 ❤️ 🦆

We are ready for this Texas heat to be over. Everyday the bunnies get an ice block to help get through it.

We have finished our mobile chicken coop. This is an example of how we exercise are values.
Some of our Values we don’t talk about much, is sustainability and buying local. For our production animals all of our inputs are purchased within 30 miles of the farm. Our hay is purchased from a farmer just 10 miles down the road. Our feed comes from feed mills in Temple or Hamilton. When possible we repurpose and reclaim lumber and other products.

This mobile coop is going to provide more security while still ensuring we can free range our chickens. It is definitely NOT highway worthy.

We’ve purposely been pretty slow this summer. With it being consistently in the 100s, it’s not fun for our animals. But, last month we did a birthday party and brought the ducks & chicks! 🦆 🐥 One of chicks thought it’d be fun to play in the water, til she caught a chill. No worries! luckily “momma’s” hands were there to warm her up. 🥰

There’s a lot to unpack in this video.
First we have a stray dog that we are calling Doug. He is a little bit of an escape artist so he follows us around the farm.

Second our Cows hate all dogs. I failed to mention this to Hannah when we went out to move hay.

Third Hannah didn’t appreciate me laughing at her when she was trying to get Doug back to the house. It was a little comical. Don’t worry I was in full control of the situation and at no time was any dogs, cows or people in real danger.

Now booking Fall events for September and. October.

Things are quiet around the farm. This heat has been hard on the animals, so we haven’t been doing events. Looking at the forecast we should start up again In September.

Something we haven’t seen around the farm is honey bees. Not going to add them to the line up but they are cool to watch. 😅

Its a busy time on the farm this Spring/summer! We brought in 80+lbs of zucchini and squash. And then I saw we have a new bull calf! Any name ideas for this wee “wittle” one? 💕 🐮

This Hen’s name is Conan. It was because her feathers on top of her head looks like a certain late night TV host.

Now it’s Conan because she is a barbarian.

She abandoned the flock she grew up with and took to hiding in trees around the barn. The other night, we heard her fight off a raccoon. Tonight we realized she has decided to roost on top of the chicken coop.

At an event a few weeks ago, these two bros hung out most of the time. Cheesy (the duck) and Sven (the goat) hung out in the middle while the girls sought attention. So cute!

Our first 3 chicks have hatched. Normally we just use. A heat lamp and monitor the temperature until the chicks are able to regulate themselves. At the local supply stores we have seen these brooders. It replicates them being under their mom. So far we like it. But it does make it harder to check on the little guys.

We had eggs incubating inside while a broody hen was laying on some outside. She’s young and gave up too soon. Being a momma
is hard sometimes. So we put her eggs in the incubator and 3 hatched! These 3 are going in a brooder tonight, and the others should be hatching in about a week!

Fred the pig has decided he is in love with our momma goat Robin.

Sharing my breakfast with Big Pig this morning.

The duck was enjoying her bath in the water bowl & hogging the water, so the chickens got to have fresh, cold bottled water! I was tentatively ok with drinking after them, … until I saw the backwash. 🪱 🐓 😳

This little girl is in heat and jumps the fence to get in with the boys. Hannah thought it would be a rodeo to separate them.

The cone of shame, goat edition. I never knew having goats would be so adventurous! It’s never ending shenanigans! No goats were harmed in the filming of this video … but I did get some good laughs.

Almost done fixing the roof on the barn. Needed a couple of more 2x4s. I love my farm truck. We’ve only had it a couple of months and the utility bed sure comes in handy.

Follow up for the flies. Little fly spray and they look a lot better.

Life lesson learned on a farm: When life gets rocky and you fall, don’t give up. Get back up on that pig and ride it out with childlike joy and confidence! Happy Wednesday! May you ride out the rest of the week like this goat on on a pigs back. BigPig is so tolerant!
