Psalm 37: 3-5

Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.

Answered prayers.

It’s really awesome that you got your event insurance partner to give you a 🎩 fancy ✨ “personalized” link and a really 🧐 nifty 👍 dashboard!

But that was all 👐 sleight of hand 👏🏻 to avoid giving you any real advice that actually helped you to protect your $500K or $5M investment.

Yes, you already required an “additional insured” and some standard liability limits. Maybe you needed two of those and a different 📫 mailing address ✉️ to appear and it wasn’t intuitive to your client, so they made that 🫶🏻 so much easier 😀!

What you don’t know now 🤨 is that your attorney (that I know you pay a of 💵 for), and your venue insurance person (yeah I know about those 💵 too), and your 🍰 event 🎤 insurance partner haven’t done anything to do anything other than the bare minimum…

Even with the best advice, you don’t have it right.

How do I know that and how can I be so 💪 confident 💪?

We know that you probably work with the best of the best. You wouldn’t have a thriving, highly-desirable venue if you didn’t.

And yet, they still won’t get it right.

But why?

Because they don’t work with an 😉 expert 🤓 who works with people who have the same struggles, joys, successes, and challenges every. single. day.

Your clients react like this because we‘ve had a really long time to perfect things like the client experience, automation, and integrated compliance. We’re also able to help you understand where you’re exposed, why you weren’t aware of it, and how to fix it… SIMPLY.

If you want do away with the links, the chase, unhappy clients, and make sure your first line of defense is your best line of defense, let’s start a 📣 conversation 📣 by scheduling a call at the link in our bio.

Isn’t 28 ⏰ minutes ⏰ worth having some certainty and peace of mind?

Hey wedding venue owner… 👋🏻

Are you comfortable with a handshake from your clients❓

Because that’s what you’re getting with what you’re asking for in your contract 📝 right now.

Event insurance? ☂️ Nope, not enough.

Additional➕ Insured for you? Not even close.

Indemnification? 💡 Still not there.

You need to talk to an expert. ✅

Someone who only works with people like you.

I know you pay an attorney👨‍⚖️, and your accountant 🧾, and your insurance person 👩‍💼 a lot of 💵💵💵, but I can assure you they haven’t given you the advice that could save your business AND help you put into action without spending a dime 🪙.

If you want to know how, check the link in our bio!

‼️If you’re a venue owner or wedding planner, take 3 minutes to read this actual email to a partner today.‼️

We get asked all the time by owners and planners, “Why the heck do I need for my clients to have event insurance? That’s just another cost for them to bear.”

Well, is that cost higher or lower than the costs these photos implicate?

Your client needs a funding mechanism for the blank check they’re writing your venue or the venue you’re working with, if you’re a planner.

Would you voluntarily enter into any agreement that said you might have to pay millions of dollars you don’t have without buying a “pot of money”? 💰💰💰

HECK NO!

But just so you know, if you’re a venue owner, NOT ONLY should only require the funding mechanism (event insurance) you should build particular structure around how and who can, or can’t, fund it.

Venue owners don’t know this, but your business or commercial insurance carrier could be the ultimate funding for this agreement if you don’t specify otherwise.

🎉 SURPRISE! 🎉 Bet your insurance guy or attorney never mentioned that, did they?

🥊🥊🥊 This is why you need an expert in your corner. 🥊🥊🥊

Big thanks to and the entire team for inviting us out last week to meet a group of wonderful, forward-thinking, and excited future wedding venue owners.

Hopefully what we were able to share with the group will help them to think about things that they can do to protect their investment and aren’t anything that they’d heard elsewhere or considered before.

Amazing opportunity for all of those who were able to attend!

Our wonderful friends at shared the word with us last week and we wanted to make you aware that there have been meaningful changes in dram shop laws recently that will trickle down to your pocketbook… if you are proactive.

Be proactive by talking with someone who works with venue owners every day on things that safeguard the investment in your business and your bank account.

This isn’t a post to boast or brag, it’s a post to celebrate, give thanks, and show what having great friends and working with great partners in the wedding industry will do for you in 9.5 months.

We worked with venue owners in 5 states at the start of this year. As of today, it’s at 17 states and counting. We couldn’t be more grateful that prayer, hard work, and doing the right thing for people still resonates.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to those who have trusted us over the last 9+ years, to those who have partnered with us this year, and to those who are still out there and drive our team to be better tomorrow than we were today.

🥂🍾 Cheers! 🍾🥂

💥 Risk Management 101: 💥

It’s not about insurance, it’s about doing what you have control over correctly so you don’t have to worry about leaning on a product.

Why wouldn’t you want control over the outcome, instead of leaving it to language you don’t understand and an adjuster or legal team who doesn’t know you.

Notice anything special about this photo?

Well, this photo represents one of the reasons we love doing what we do.

Stories.

Let me tell you a story…

This mantle makes its home at The Stone House of Saint Charles . It was carved 200 years ago by Daniel Boone. He gave it to the Cottle family, one of the 7 frontier pioneers he knew moving west.

It was a housewarming gift. Talk about a 🔥🔥🔥 gift!

This is what I can celebrate today.

For a year and a half I kept hearing the name “Kristin Binford”.

After no less than the 127th time, I googled Kristin Binford.

I thought, “Wow. I’d really like to meet her one day, but I’m certain she has no inclination or reason to talk to me.”

Then one day a venue owner partner of ours, and one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, said “I’m going to introduce you to Kristin.” And she did.

Fast forward 8 months.

Thank you for having me out last week. It was a great trip.

“So what do you do?”

We get this question on the phone A LOT. And I really appreciate it.

So we answer and, “Oh you’re an insurance person. No thanks we already have one of those. We’re all good.” That’s a typical response and I totally get it. But it isn’t how we work.

Let’s compare it to football.

A typical “insurance person” sells you the “Fumblerooski play”. It’s a super-secret play that’s only used when you have no other options. It’s a Hail Mary in hopes that it’s going to save you when the game is tied with :07 left.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

We’re totally different.

We came in a 6am, drew the lines on the field, took down the goal posts, built a 15 foot wall over the end zone, and then told the guys in stripes what they can call and what they can’t.

When you play by that game, you can’t lose.

So we don’t always need a “Fumblerooski play”. But if we still do, we’ve got the best library full of those too.

If you want to keep your “Fumblerooski” we don’t mind, because the we’ll shrink the field those weddings are played on small enough to where no one is putting points on the other side of the board.

TUESDAY TAKE

Don’t chase.

Full transparency, we stole that from our good friend . 😂 Well, not really stole because it applies to what we do too, just in a little different way.

Speaking of Kristin, if you need someone to help you grow your business, book up with only ideal clients, and do it without it all being on your back, she’s the best in the biz.

If you’re struggling with compliance don’t dance around asking for most everything up front, before booking. I know you’re worried about making sure you’re booked, but you’ll book a better client if you’re willing ask them to do the hard work up front.

It’s also important to know what questions to ask of them initially so that you get the right answer. This is where compliance and what we do come in. Drips in this area are where your business is going to get hurt, and they’re most often very small. Would you really want to run the risk of losing your business because your lease didn’t ask the right question? Or because your preferred vendor agreement lacked a proper indemnity agreement?

Haven’t you heard “It’s all about the details?” If that’s true for what you do for your couple, why wouldn’t it be true for what you do for your business?

06/23/2022

One of the things we hear most is this and it’s something we understand and respect. Having a great relationship in your business with people that you can trust in these areas is imperative. Warren Buffett or Jeff Bezos didn’t get where they are by surrounding themselves with people with average skills or expertise. They only work with the best.

Our clients do as well. How do we know this? Generally, we end up working with them as well because they aren’t in the throes of the wedding industry day in and day out. It takes some specialized knowledge and intentional effort to collaborate with these important advisors to your business so that the desired and intended results are achieved. So that there’s no chance for “what if” in your business.

By and large, we find that there are “leaks” in the system, not because those folks missed something or didn’t give great advice, but because of the inherent nature of how venue businesses are created.

It’s a goal-focused business without a true roadmap. “I want to open a venue.” But in that quest, you hit bumps in the road that cause you to pivot, change direct, and adjust the plan to get to the goal. Reactive decisions pull you off even straightest course, which is where the leaks begin to drip.

It’s also entirely possible that you do work with great people and they do have your business all taken care of. It’s also just as possible that there’s a tax issue, issue with a contract, or an insurance requirement for bartenders that they missed that costs your business $630,000 when it could have been avoided by writing two sentences into your contract and ensuring compliance of those by a vendor.

That’s where we come in.

06/21/2022

If you’ve never heard of this word before and you’re not sure how it might apply to your venue 👇👇👇

A severability clause is a contract provision that helps to preserve the original intent of your contract when other provisions may be ambiguous, duplicative, or conflicting. Unenforceable terms are “severed” from the contract, thus the name.

It goes hand in hand with another legal term called “blue penciling” which dates back to English common law and the 1898 case of Nordenfelt v Maxim Nordenfelt Guns and Ammunition Co Limited. In this case, the House of Lords held that the court has the power to remove (or strike through with a blue pencil) portions of a contractual clause that are unenforceable. This leaves the remaining part of the clause intact.

Does your contract have one? If not, I would imagine there might be other things we can help you and your attorney (or our legal partner) can help you sort out.

Reach out. We’re here to help. Link in bio!
