‘Serial Griller’ is another favorite cookbook that will get used often. Matt Moore takes us on a culinary journey visiting a diverse group of grillers, featuring recipes of cultural favorites and mixed with compelling stories. The pictures used in this book jump off the page at each turn saying, ‘pick me, pick me’.

The recipes we cooked, Grilled Salmon w/ Creamy Cucumber Relish, Smoky Summer Squash, and Grilled Bacon Wrapped Asparagus provided a great meal. So many opportunities in this collection!

The Yellowstone Cookbook, gimmick or not? Flipping through the pages first brought great memories of a favorite show. The recipe content did not disappoint as I imagined not only the Dutton Family sitting down to enjoy these meals, but your family and mine.

The Flank Steak recipe spoke to me with its mustard mushroom sauce paired with a robust chopped salad with ‘Dutton Ranch’ dressing.

This meal was fantastic! With leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

The cookbook has great recipes and the pictures of the Dutton Family dispersed throughout bring about warm feelings. Great job ‘Gator’ in putting this all together.

Project Fire, by Steven Raichlen is so full of tasty recipes we had a hard time choosing what to cook this week, but beef wins again, well, because it’s beef.

If you’ve never made a board sauce, it’s a must do and it takes only minutes to prepare. We’ve been on a grilled corn kick lately and this corn and asparagus dish with the charred lemon vinaigrette is crazy good - and so simple to make. Winner, winner - another ‘What’s For Dinner’ success.

Franklin Steak IS a whole book about Steak. Spoiler alert, it’s not your mamas cookbook.

It does have a few recipes, we enjoyed the mushrooms and twice baked potato’s - and of course the steak, but the focus is not on starters, or sides, or desserts. This book is all about delivering you and your family, your friends - the ultimate steak.

This book takes you on an adventure - well worth it if you are trying to do more with beef than just throw meat on a grill.

Yesterday, a friend of ours was seasoning a cast iron skillet and grabbed two different styles of ‘protection’ to remove the pan from the oven.

Unfortunately, one worked, the other didn’t, the pan dropped and broke her oven glass. Our friend now has a few blisters on her hand from the burn.

Thought I’d throw it out there today, what do you use to remove hot things from an oven. Any brands better than others?

I’m sure not all mitts are created equal..

Let’s see if we can pull off a giveaway that supports both our hosts’ efforts on October 19th.
You’ve seen the flyer and we will be at both locations helping to support these efforts with pretty darn good BBQ.

For several years we’ve been lighting the fires at Beach Brews and BBQ working with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Southern California. To that end, we have two VIP passes to give away – and we’ll do that on Tuesday the 15th so we have time to get these to the winners. Want a chance to win these passes? Like our pages and, and make a comment letting us know you want to attend.

This year we will also be at Chapline Distillery who is supporting the American GI Forum in support of homeless Veterans in San Antonio.

We’re not sure we can disclose what we are giving away on social media, but here’s a hint, we are at a distillery and it will be delicious. Want to win?
