Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. Chef Michael Harper has a deep passion for bbq, seafood and using ingredients local to the region. Growing up time was spent hunting, fishing, and traveling to New Orleans to eat and attend Saints games with his mom, dad, and late brother.

At age 19 Michael left home and attended the prestigious culinary school Johnson & Wales in Charlotte, North Carolina. He worked under Michelin trained chefs Joe Kindred and Ashley Quick. Learning the skills of wood fired cooking, pasta, and finesse from both chefs has really molded Michaels influences in the food he produces. After graduating In 2014 and another year learning pasta under chef Ashley Quick, Michael moved to New Orleans to work for Alon Shaya at Shaya restaurant in late 2015. Michael was promoted to sous chef quickly in 5 months and helped the restaurant achieve the James Beard Award in 2016 for Best New Restaurant. Most recently Michael helped open Couvant (an upscale French restaurant) in The Eliza Jane hotel under Chef Brad McDonald. Michael held the title of Chef de Cuisine for a fun and short 8 months until the virus shut the whole world down.

Today, Michael is the sous chef at Pardos restaurant. Producing food that is near and dear to his heart. Chefs off-days are spent with his beloved girlfriend Chelsea riding bikes, enjoying Teds Frostop, and always thinking about the next time to go fishing. Who Dat!

Congratulations Chef Robert Vasquez of Pepe's Sonoran Cuisine on being crowned the 2020 Louisiana Seafood King by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board!

Chef Robert competed against 9 other chefs from around the state in the 2020 Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off. He wowed the judges with his recipe for red snapper with crawfish sofrito and taught viewers how to recreate his masterpiece at home. Stop into Pepe's Sororan Cuisine in Covington to congratulate Chef Robert and enjoy his .

A big thank you to Cliff Ragan Hall and the New Orleans Fish House. I couldn’t have won without you! That red snapper was swimming in the Louisiana gulf waters not even 48 hours before the competition. Cliff met the boats at the dock in the early hours of the morning and processed it for me himself. It was amazing!!! You can’t win a race without the right gas, my friend!
