After looking at research and going off information posted by Neal Hurst, I’m going to make a purple hunting frock.

Special sale! I will do this with pleated sleeves for $250 if you order this week! If I have no offers then I will make it in a size large and the price will go up to $350.

The 2nd Virginia Regiment formed in Williamsburg at College Camp was ordered dye their hunting shirts purple. “It is Expected that each Capt. will with all Expedition Provide Legins for his men & hunting shirts Dy’d of a purple Coulour…” (Orderly Book of the 2d Virginia Regiment, October 27, 1775)”

However, that freedom was overshadowed by hardships, the likes of which many had never known. The further onto the western fringe they traveled, the more important community became. Journey to Martin’s Station, Virginia’s final point of rest and resupply. Walk amongst merchants and tradesmen. Meet those individuals who traveled the trace and the indigenous peoples they encountered. Come and immerse yourself in America’s First Frontier.

Who wants me to make them a custom hunting shirt?

I would love to see one done in this color with natural fringe.

Here is some research to help support the color choice.

"There whole dress is very singular, and not very materially different from that of the Indians; being a hunting shirt, somewhat resembling a waggoner’s frock, ornamented with a great many fringes, tied around the middle with a broad belt, much decorated also…Their hunting or rifle shirts, they have also died in variety of colors, some yellow, others red, some brown, and many wear them quite white (Smyth 179-180)

As most you know- my grandmother (Liz) and I started this business together. Elizabeth is the main seamstress with all the talent and I (Dee) have been learning under her. My grandmother has had what we think is a stroke. Therefore for the foreseeable future we are putting a hold on all orders that aren’t Shirts. With my busy schedule those are the only things I am really able to handle.
