A storm survivor… this Monarch is one of a handful of butterflies I saw today.

At Cindy Seifert Art Garden LLC and Monarch Meadows Events Center and Wedding Venue we provide a pesticide free “safe” space for Florida’s pollinators, wildlife, and song birds. We are proud to be an “island of wild Florida “ in a sea of development and habitat destruction.

Today , while doing storm clean up , I saw 8 different butterfly species , all are within the 2024 species count of 35

During storm prep, we decided to cut down a huge live oak in the back meadow. The tree was leaning and “lifting “ it was clear the tree was getting ready to fall and presented a hazard.

We cut the tree down and when we did, it collapsed onto the remaining stump. There it rested.

We had some very strong wind gusts during the storm.

During clean up we saw that the wind had moved the tree off the stump where it had come to rest and onto the ground.

The powerful wind moved a tree , weighing tons, yet these butterflies were spared.

Today we heard birds singing , we saw butterflies, and once again, the sun was shining.

My prayers are with everyone experiencing the devastation of this storm, and to everyone experiencing loss not related to the storm . May you all feel the grace of God, and the safety of knowing he has a plan, and we are in his hands.
