Our Story
Opulent Public Relations & Event Management (Opulent PREM) is a public relations firm and event management firm based in Dallas, Texas, established in 2009 by founder, Shay Johnson. At Opulent PREM we utilize both traditional and digital PR approaches in public and media relations to expand client brands and reach client sales growth goals. We are experienced at obtaining increased brand exposure and awareness for our clients using customized strategies, developing attainable metrics and media placements and, coordinating events such as; listening sessions, showcases, fundraiser galas, pop-up shops, exclusive parties, grand openings, meet and greets and conferences.
Opulent Public Relations & Event Management began as Opulent Weddings, Events & More. For Shay, it was a release, a hobby, an opportunity to serve and use the skills she developed and loved as an intern with Rap-A-Lot Records (Houston). However, when she was laid off from her position in Human Resources for the 2ndlargest district in the state, that all swiftly changed. It was a no-brainer that full time entrepreneurship was the only option. After all, she was armed with a background in mass communications and public relations (BA) and education (MS), that had allowed her to travel nationwide and to Puerto Rico planning, coordinating events and building media relationships. Opulent Public Relations & Event Management then found itself morphed into a fully operational business.
Johnson’s passion and gift of meeting people, speaking, organizing, writing and work ethic, both fuels and has provided, invaluable opportunities for Opulent Public Relations & Event Management, LLC. As a solopreneur, Shay could be found working diligently as an entertainment publicist. Opulent’s clients included artists, models, professional athletes, producers, DJs, and actors. The firm also provided the branding and media efforts for non-profits like, The Rose Petal Diabetes Foundation, Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church and The Great Vine HIV/AIDS Foundation. She is the current Fundraising Gala Chairperson for YesTHRIVE, a nonprofit focused on providing underserved and underexposed urban males to the collegiate and workforce opportunities in S.T.E.M.
After being a solopreneur for the first 10 years of existence, Shay decided to transition to a full team of account executives and interns to further propel Opulent PREM as a full-service PR agency startup. Johnson keeps her vision of expanding her clients’ brand and expanding Opulent’s home base of Dallas, Texas to a national platform at the forefront of all that she does.
