The end of an era...
Back in March 2016, we launched a family business that we all could enjoy. XCite Mobile Gaming, LLC was born. We soon grew to add "& Entertainment" to our name, offering a variety of services bringing countless smiles to the Carolinas. We then launched our community friendly rolled ice cream shop, XCITE's Sweet Connections where we tried our best to make a difference.
As they say, all good things must come to an end. We closed Sweet Connections when we decided to go from snowbirds to full time residents of Mexico. We downsized from 4 game/glam trucks down to one. This past weekend, we sold the last one. 🥹 We are still debating what to do with our laser tag equipment but XMG Charlotte is no more.
It is bitter sweet. We worked hard to give our and other kids that "leg up", that so many don't get. . They have business management, training, inventory, customer service skills, etc, to go out into the workforce. Cai and Coy were running things by 10 and 12 (Jae was a little older). We strategically hired teen foster kids, the homeless and we were the first job for our friends' kids. And to top it off, we ended with 5 star reviews. 🥹
The hubs and I are inching towards 50. In a few short years, we will be empty nesters. There is so much of the world for us to see. We are still deciding what's next, but in the meantime I am just laying here in gratitude. That poor little girl, who grew up around domestic violence and many times didn't have utilities and nothing but a syrup sandwich as a meal has done some awesome ass s**t. I can truly say I've done my best to be the change that I wanted see in the world. Plus, my kids have never and will never know my plight.
While, we are working on what's next, I am busy writing 2 more books to encourage other disadvantaged youth so that they can know that they, too, can break the curse.
*Tears*
Thank you to all who supported, promoted, painted, referred, listened, talked, partnered over the years, trusted us with their kids to work, etc. We made some wonderful friends in the process. We love and thank all of you. We wish the best of luck to all new owners!
