Ahh, coffee on this rainy fun fact Friday in Southern Alabama. The essential foundation to my arrangements is beautiful greenery. Eucalyptus symbolizes protection, strength and abundance. Commonly used in wedding bouquets to give a romatic feel. This gorgeous greenery is native to Australia, has over 700 species and is used for essential oils, dyes and a food source for koalas. It's versatility and a long vase life makes Eucalyptus varieties one of my personal favorites.

Yay for Friday! Do you have your coffee ready? Today's fun fact is about birds of paradise or the crane flower. This striking bloom is native to South Africa and is a member of the banana family. The bird of paradise is the official flower of the 9th wedding anniversary in which it symbolizes faithfulness, love, anticipation and joyfulness. In a vase, they can last 7-14 days with proper care.

A trip to the wholesaler in search of the perfect flowers for a large designer choice vase arrangement to be picked up by an out-of-town customer, giving me the freedom to create something exquisite for that special person.
This story ended differently than it started. Unbeknownst to me, my sister in law had a friend place this order. This friend called today with a "delayed pickup" and asked that I fill out the card. "Dear Dawn, Congratulations on your new business..." Needless to say, instant tears. I'm humbled by the love and support of this new venture. 🌼💐

Early in my floral career and as a new mom, I was fortunate enough to bring my kiddos to the shop with me. They spent their younger years learning flowers, "making" arrangements, and "helping." This week, my daughter begins her final year of high school, and my son begins his final year of middle school, all while still helping their mama with flowers. 💐🌻🌷
