80's icons Lisa Lisa and Cover Girl got the crowd moving at the City of Sunrise's 4th of July Celebration at Amerant Bank Arena, with fantastic fireworks capping the night.

PANTHERS WIN!!! As part of my work for the City of Sunrise I've had occasion to photograph various Panthers-related activities, including this shoot we did a few weeks ago with Mayor Michael J. Ryan and the hottest cat in town, Stanley C. Panther. It was part of the "Mayor's Challenge", a friendly wager between the mayors of Sunrise and Edmonton – the loser of which has to wear the other's jersey at a public event. Huzzah, there will be no such sad photo shoot for us! See you at the victory parade!!

My 100% proposal success streak was extended over the weekend as this happy couple took a big step into their future. Aaron and the rest of the staff at Bulla Gastrobar were beyond amazing, coordinating with both the groom-to-be and me to pull it all off and ensure a private, quick photo shoot on the balcony. The food was delicious as well!
Thank you to a fellow photographer (you know who you are) who referred the couple to me – personal friends of his – when he was conflicted out of being able to do the job himself.

I've been too busy doing work to post any recently, so time to catch up! First, check out this fabulous group of Cypress Bay H.S. prom-goers and their families. Despite only shooting for two frantic, fun hours at a beautiful Weston Hills home, we ended up with more than 300 final photos. One parent surprised us at the end of the shoot with his personal, 1950's-era Mercedes, which he rather amazingly let the students climb all over – which they did with much care and respect.

This shot wasn't supposed to happen. A corporate client wanted new headshots for their entire office, including "honorary" staff – their kids, all between 1-3 years old. The kids were somewhat reluctant to leave their parents' arms, as often happens – and it's in those unexpected moments that you can often get the best shots, where a business session becomes a beautiful family memory.

There are two things I say to almost all my clients: "Have fun and you'll get great photos," and "It's a moment in time." The first is self-explanatory; the second means embrace the chaos – odds are, not everything will always go exactly as you imagined. You may have a young child who just wants to be with their mother no matter what you try to do to calm them, as seen in this collection of very cool grandkids. What are you going to do - remove them? Of course not! Go with it, because – here's another one – "Perfection is not personality." And this "moment in time" is loaded with personality.

Need a little happy this morning? On Sunday I had the honor of capturing a milestone moment in the waters off Miami, as Marc proposed to Cali - and she said "Yes!" At Marc's request we did not record audio of what he said, but you can hear Cali's surprise and joy, as well as the reaction from surrounding boaters... For the first part of the journey, I pretended I was there to shoot a promo video for the yacht company. Post-proposal we switched over to still photos, which I'll share soon. I had the pleasure of being a small part of AKAM's media team working to celebrate Executive VP, David Cohen as he's honored as one of South Florida Business Journal's "40 Under 40". The ceremony is ongoing right this moment at The Signature Grand. Honorees are allowed 15-second acceptance videos, as seen here. This isn't just turning on office lights and hitting record on a phone; in fact, the office lights are off, professional lighting is on, and David is properly mic'd and recorded to a pro camera in 4k (reduced to standard HD for the ceremony, and further mangled by Facebook here - click on the gear icon and change playback quality to HD). It takes work to make something "simple" look good! We're also working on videos for a local political candidate which should hit Facebook at some point in the next few weeks.
