When our dog Jake died last month, our pitbull Petey went into a depression. Stopped eating, wouldn't leave his cage, didn't want to play. Amazing rescue by a Pit Bull.

Deb with P***y, our pit bull. We've had three pit bulls, and they've all been perfect pets. We have socialized them around our other small dogs, cats, and other people. I've never heard one growl, let alone become aggressive and bite. We adopted all either at the Animal Welfare League, Humane Society, or SPCA in Clark County. Please visit the shelters and allow these loving, often-maligned dogs to find a suitable home.

This is my author photo and book cover for "Nunn So Mighty." That's me at 6 with my Irish grandfather, taken at Indian Lake.
He was a towering giant of a man, brilliant, flawed, and heroic. Biceps the size of dinner plates.
When I was 7, I was sitting next to him on the porch swing,
my parents next to us in metal chairs when the unthinkable happened. We lived on the corner of a busy intersection with four-way stops when a drunk driver sped through the stop sign and ran over a lady crossing the street. Mom ran inside to call an ambulance, and Dad and my grandfather ran to help. I tagged along, shaking like a leaf.
The driver stopped. The woman was pinned under the car, crying for help.
Grandpa tore off his coat and singlehandedly lifted the back end of the Buick off the ground in one quick heave while my dad pulled the woman to safety. My mother arrived and cradled the lady in her arms as a crowd of onlookers gathered around.
I'll never forget my grandfather's remarkable feat of strength, but just as unforgettable was the fact that out of at least a dozen faces, his was the only one with tears streaming down.

The novel is both fact and fiction, loosely based on his complicated, circuitous life. Released in 2022, it won gold at Reader's Favorite International Book Awards, a global writing competition, and hit number one on Amazon in four different countries multiple times over the next eight months.
