Industry friends: Let’s talk about styled shoots for a moment. In the event industry, there are diverse opinions about them. Some vendors choose not to participate in styled shoots, arguing that they don’t generate actual bookings. And while that might be true in some ways, here’s my perspective and why I absolutely love doing them:
⭐️ Community and Connection: Meeting fellow industry friends is truly a blessing in countless ways. Creating bonds with creatives who lead similar lives, facing similar struggles and striving for the same dreams, is incredibly uplifting and motivating. Moreover, when you establish relationships with others in the industry, guess who they’ll refer when they have a client in search of services you offer?
⭐️ Creative Freedom: As creative professionals, we thrive when we get to explore and experiment with different styles, themes, and trends. But when it comes to our client-led events, there are limitations in incorporating fresh and innovative ideas due to the event’s requirements and budget. Styled shoots, however, give us the freedom to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of our creativity. This can help us stay inspired and keep our work fresh and innovative!
⭐️ Other positives of styled shoots: they can be used for charitable giving in your community, branding shoots/photos for your business, and can help attract clients who are looking for unique and personalized experiences.
Of course, it’s important to budget and avoid overextending resources to make styled shoots happen. Nevertheless, I genuinely believe that styled shoots present an incredible opportunity to connect and create!
