Due to the record snowfall, our offices and the Walton County courts will be closed through Friday, January 24, 2025. We will resume our regular business hours on Monday, January 27, 2025.

All court events scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, 2025, through Friday, January 24, 2025, will be continued to a future date. Please contact our office next week should you need assistance determining the date of your court event.

All Walton County libraries will remain closed through Friday for the safety of our staff due to road conditions.
Libraries will re-open on Saturday pending any additional weather-related issues.

GARBAGE COLLECTION UPDATE 🗑️❄️

Out of an abundance of caution, garbage collection operations will be suspended tomorrow (Thursday, January 23rd) due to the anticipated icy and unsafe road conditions. Forecasts predict temperatures will drop to 18-20 degrees tonight, likely causing many roads to freeze over and making it unsafe for both garbage collection crews and the public.

As a result, the Landfill will also be closed tomorrow (Thursday). Garbage collection will resume on Friday, January 24th, as soon as conditions are safe. The Landfill will reopen and resume normal operations on Friday morning, as well.

Beginning Friday morning, Waste Management crews will prioritize the collection of garbage normally picked up on Wednesday (once per week) and will also resume collections for those on the regular twice-per-week service schedule on their next scheduled service day.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this very unusual weather event.

IMPORTANT I-10 CLOSURE ALERT: Effective 7p.m. EST tonight (Jan 22), Interstate 10 (I-10) will be CLOSED in both directions from the Alabama/Florida State Line to Exit 192 (U.S. 90) in Gadsden County due to remaining snow, ice, and water on the roadway combined with incoming hard freeze temperatures overnight resulting in icy and dangerous conditions on bridges and roadways. Please seek alternative routes until further notice.

With conditions changing rapidly and bringing unexpected circumstances, stay put and off the roads for your safety. Remember to heed all local and state guidance.
