People have an extremely difficult time changing their minds on anything. It’s one of the corner stones of magic tricks. Get a person to think they know how a trick is done and then ‘prove’ that it can’t possibly be done that way and instead of coming up with something else that person will just chalk it up to magic. “Well I thought it was done with magnets but since it’s clearly not done with magnets the only other explanation is magic.” To me THAT is the real danger I see in misinformation because it’s not that hard to fool somebody but it’s nearly impossible to convince them that they have been fooled. Just look at how your friends react when you tell them that video they just shared is AI generate.

“It’s AI.”

“What? No way. That’s real.”

“She’s picking up a slice of cake by touching the end of her pinky to a corner of the cake.”

“That’s just a weird angle.”

“Look! The description even SAYS that this video is AI.”

“Hmm…..ok. But even if it’s not really it COULD be real”
