Good to be back home with the animals but maaaan did we have a hell of a time at the this year! With a 3rd place finish in the bacon category, it's safe to say that we ended the season on a high note! Shout out to AKA "The Bacon Whisperer" for his 1st place finish. But watch out next year Jean Paul, because we're coming back with a vengeance and we plan on turning your whispers to whimpers!😉 All in good fun though!

As always, Canton was a blast! Chicken continues to hit but my ribs continue to struggle a little or maybe they can't find the right table. My professional taste tester, AKA dad, said the ribs were spot on so I'll take that as a win!

Next up is September 9th at Bent Brewstillery. This comp is a great event for competitors AND the public. If you want to sample BBQ from some of the best teams in the Midwest here's your chance!

We had the most wonderful experience at the World Invite! The KCBS puts on a heck of a competition! And I'll admit, I was a little geeked out to see some of my BBQ idols like & .wertz.5 & just to name a few.

It's so much fun to be around so many people that have the same passion for competition BBQ as I do! I learned so much, met so many new friends and got to see a bunch of my Minnesota BBQ Society homies!

Super big ups to Alan of for winning GC at the backyard invite!

Our highlight of the weekend was snagging an 8th place chicken call at the open. One spot ahead of Chicken Fried BBQ. That's a brag yo. Never in the world did I think that could happen! You know I hit that chicken with the Saint & Sinners Blue Flame Chicken Rub and Smokin' Bros Jailbird rub winning duo!

Other than that our brisket and pork turn ins need some work before we jump up to the pro division. Our ribs and chicken scores at the backyard invite were scores that would usually walk in the top 5 but against so many good teams we fell just out of the top 10.

It was kinda a bummer that we weren't able to attend Bringin' Home the Bacon this weekend where we won our first ever GC just a year ago. Although, we were able to cook some steaks at the Croix Valley Cookout and we had a blast!! put on an awesome competition at their beautiful new headquarters! This was our first SCA event in a couple years and wouldn't ya know, we gotta 8th place steak call among 58 cooks and some of the best in the world!! Booyakasha!!

Last couple of weekends have been full of BBQ!! Grabbed some hardware with a 2nd place call at a rib burn in the nice little town of Ga***rd. Then cooked a few briskets for Memorial Day. This weekend I will cook up 50 lbs of pork shoulder for a grad party. BBQ season is in full effect!!! Cheers!!

Minnesota in May is in the books and it was a blast! Super fun catching up with old friends and BBQ family! And I'm gonna brag about something that may stir up some controversy😉...the lovely Mrs. Kuhn from hooked me up with the very last banana bar with all of the extra frosting (see pic)! What a sweetheart! Thanks Amy!!

We were pretty happy with our cooks and even though we were ranked 1st on our table we were only able to scrape up 14th place ribs. It happens.. Our chicken box looked a little crowded but scored decently well for 15th place. That gave us 15th overall.

Congrats to on the GC and on the RGC! Congrats to for kicking some butt at their 1st competition ever!

Lucky Shoes BBQ took a spin up to the old stompin' grounds of St. Francis for a rib comp and to kick off the BBQ season! It was a great day and I got to catch up with some good friends! Tasty Pizza Bar & Bowl put on a really fun comp and they still have the best pizza around! I finished in a tie for 3rd but lost the tie breaker. Not a bad day considering the competition was stacked with some very talented cooks. Shout out to Pittie Q BBQ always good to see y'all! And big ups to Dawg's BBQ for winning people's choice and 2nd overall! And a big thanks to my sponsors!!

This baby's got sauce!! Braised beef and cheddar with sauteed onions, crispy fried onions, cheddar cheese sauce, white cheddar horseradish cheese sauce and Sriracha-maple-worchestshire imitation spicy Arby's sauce. Worcestershire sauce was used to add huge flavor to almost every element of this sandwich! Oh, and there's bacon on there! Homemade bacon seasoned with Cattle Drive BBQ Rub.

This season Lucky Shoes BBQ is incredibly proud to be an ambassador for 3 amazing companies that bring big BBQ flavors to the table! I decided to use my favorite rub from all 3 companies to season some bacon that I cured. Talk about delicious!

They all turned out really good. It is hard to choose a winner of the bunch. Although, after sampling all 3 it was easy to say that clearly I am the winner of this experiment because I have all this flavorful bacon here to devour!!

I also made some peppered and Canadian style bacon. Yum.

Added some zip to my crispy chicken sandwich with that Croix Valley Garlic Buffalo BBQ and Wing Sauce! Blue cheese, candy pickled red onion and jalapeno, reheated chicken nuggets on a toasted cheesy ciabatta bun.
