Thirteen has always been my lucky number, and this Friday the 13th - I’m 41! Birthdays always makes me reflect and here are my thoughts today:

⭐️Always dive in with excitement and don’t be afraid to try new things. When award-winning photographer and client, W***y Wilson, asked me to do an underwater photo session with her, I’ll admit I was hesitant at first as a behind-the-camera/behind -the-scenes girl. I’ll tell you that once I stepped foot in the pool it felt as though a weight was lifted. Not only did I feel like a kid again playing mermaid in the pool, but the photos were so creative and incredible! Thank you 📷
⭐️Never stop learning - and always be open to learning. Especially in the media industry, there’s always something new to explore and master. There’s always a new trend, new technique.
⭐️Once you put your mind to something, do the work. It will always pay off if you put in the work and dedication.
⭐️Surround yourself with a supportive community who talk goals and dreams (not about others).
⭐️Always believe in yourself. Yes, you can do all of the things! You are the only person who can hold yourself back, get out there and do what you want to do.

“Traveling - it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” -Ibn Battuta

Perhaps that’s why I love travel so much. It’s the storytelling! I love meeting with someone, asking the questions, and then telling their story - and that’s what PR is all about. Sharing others stories - pulling what makes them unique and highlighting just that.

I’ve been a bit distant from posting lately but I promise it was worth it. I recently returned from a trip that left me so inspired! Made my way with my family from London, Vienna, and Salzburg to Budapest.

And through all of the travels my work continued (time change does wonders for being able to explore during the day and work at night).

Any interest in travel photos or video? Or stick with PR? 😀

Happy (belated) Mother’s Day to all of the mamas out there crushing it every single day! And while it’s belated - I believe all moms should be celebrated weekly, monthly, yearly🎉

We know how to multitask and get all of the things done. We can be chefs, chauffeurs, playmates, personal assistants..and publicists.

I’m so lucky to have two of the sweetest kiddos call me mommy. I’m so lucky my own mom raised me with the mindset that I can do anything as long as I work hard enough for it (thanks, mom!). I’m so lucky to be surrounded by so many amazing mamas in this community who support one another and lift each other up.

And just when I wonder if I’m doing enough and if I’m doing this whole “mama” thing right - I look down and see the bracelets my daughter made. She recently started a bracelet business with her friends called Bracelets for Change, where they’ll donate proceeds to the .project. And I hear my son tell me about how he wants to sell his artwork to help out.

I must be doing something right. We are all doing something right. And we’ve got this.

Oh, and if you’d like a bracelet DM me!

So very happy to be a new member of PRSA Colorado - thank you for the warm welcome!

Let's give a warm welcome to the newest member of PRSA Colorado, Sam Bryant. Sam is the founder of Samantha Bryant PR and serves as a public relations consultant, working with companies and brands across the nation. She is also an avid traveler and experienced communicator.

Favorite Colorado activity: I love anything outdoors, and Colorado has been just the place for that. On any given day you'll find me hiking, running, or road biking on the many amazing trails throughout the state. I'm also an avid camper, and it's been a goal to check off as many national parks as I can.

What's something we couldn't guess about you based on your LinkedIn profile? I'm an avid traveler and have been to every continent except Antarctica. I lived in Seoul, Korea for several years as a child and I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. Travel has always been a part of who I am. It's important to me because I love diving into all cultures and meeting people from every corner of the world—there are so many stories to hear and discover!

I hate to burst your bubble, but..

Public relations is a long-term game. Think of it as a marathon and not a sprint. PR is about building results and there’s a strategy that should be in place.

You need expertise to help guide you with the building blocks and foundation for ultimate earned media success. Remain consistent and it will pay off!

Trust the process.

PS pic taken on recent trip to Puerto Rico, returned feeling inspired! Also, capturing a bubble photo is way harder than it looks! 🤦‍♀️

So when you get a response and the go ahead for a story - you better work. You should always have everything readily available in the form of a media kit when working with reporters. You want to make the process as seamless as possible.

I’m talking media materials, fact sheets, photos, b-roll, and a point of contact for interviews ready to go.

What’s your New Year’s resolution? Is it hitting the gym, eating salads, and getting a publicist? 🤷‍♀️

If you want to get the word out on your business in 2023, public relations is just the way to do it. But, how do you know if you are ready? Here are 7 signs you are ready for PR in 2023:

1️⃣You have clear brand positioning. Your message is loud and clear, you just need an extra hand to share that with your desired audience. You have your company’s talking points down and you are ready to put them to use.

2️⃣You have so much to share! Perhaps you are launching a new product, service, or an exciting upcoming event. Or, you want to share your knowledge with the public as a thought leader in your field. PR will help you convey your ideas and angles in the best way.

3️⃣You have a trusted spokesperson readily available. Someone who can easily chat with reporters or attend a segment at a moment’s notice. This person should also be willing to complete media training.

4️⃣You have a budget set aside for public relations. As well as the understanding that PR doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a process if you want to do it the right way.

5️⃣You have brand materials readily available. A clear, concise website and brand photos that are media ready.

6️⃣You have clear goals outlined. You know your target audience and you know what sets you apart from your competition. You know exactly what problem or challenge you solve for your audience.

7️⃣You are prepared for planning sessions with your publicist. You have the time to get your PR pro what they need to be successful. That includes materials, time for media material approvals, check in calls/meetings, and of course - time for meeting with media.

Are you ready for PR in 2023? Let’s talk! SBPR is taking on additional clients in the new year and now’s your chance. Reach out to [email protected] or send me a DM and let’s make it happen.

Did you know it’s officially Libra season? This Libra is thrilled the stars have aligned. I thought it was time for another introduction around here (zodiac style). Here’s why Libras make great PR pros!

*Libras have a love of harmony. We can see every side of a story, which is key when it comes to public relations. The ability to see all angles. This is my favorite part of PR!!
*We enjoy learning and absorbing new information. We can eagerly dive into any account and discover what’s newsworthy. I love all of the topics I’ve been able to share over the many years I’ve worked in this industry and the 11 years since I’ve started SBPR (from startups and non-profits - to fashion, food, and education!)
*Libras are drawn to peaceful, aesthetically pleasing environments that allow us to collaborate and socialize with others. We forge strong bonds with colleagues and clients alike. I crave a sense of community. I love the relationships built with clients and media. Why in the world did it take me so long to get on Instagram professionally?! I absolutely love this community and connecting with others around the world!
*Libras carefully weigh all options before coming to a decision. Some call us indecisive, I prefer level-headed and fair-minded. Someone you’d want to have on your side when it comes to public relations!

Any other Libras out there? Give me a 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️⚖️⚖️

A big shout out to and for the amazing photos this week! Loved meeting everyone there and had so much fun📷

Client News✨: With Earth Day coming up, meet an 11-year-old student at Colorado Connections Academy. Izzy was tired of junk mail and did some research to find that over 100 million trees are used annually to produce junk mail! She wrote an essay about it and decided to make seed bombs with junk mail. A fun project anyone can do at home and do their part (while getting rid of that junk mail in a sustainable fashion).

You know how I said everyone has a story, here’s mine!

*My two most demanding clients call me mom😀
*I was born in South Africa and hope to go back with my family someday
*I am obsessed with travel and have been to every continent, except for Antarctica
*I lived in Korea as a child and attended school there for three years (Seoul International School alum!)
*Had some child modeling gigs in Korea (my brother was on billboards!)
*With all of our travels, I consider Iowa my hometown (where I went to part of elementary, junior high, and high school) and enjoy going back every summer for the Bix 7 mile race and riding my bike across Iowa in Ragbrai
*I ran my first half marathon this past December (Jacksonville Half Marathon)
*Purchased an RV/travel trailer during the pandemic and drove cross country seeking out stories under the stars and dipping our toes in the sand
*My very first job in high school was at Limited Too where I pierced ears and I worked as a host/waitress in college (I think everyone should work in the restaurant industry at some point - I credit my PR successes to this!)
*My first internship out of college was at a modeling agency called Lily’s Talent
*I used to run the hallways of the NBC building with a headset working in TV production in Chicago

There’s so much more, but just wanted to introduce myself more beyond the usual.

Now, your turn. Tell me something unique about you!

I’m usually a behind-the-camera kind of girl but it’s time for an official introduction. I’ve been in the PR game for nearly two decades, securing press coverage both regionally and nationally.

I truly enjoy sharing stories and finding the right audience for clients to shine. I love working with reporters and helping them with what they need for news coverage.

My career began in Chicago and when I moved to Colorado in 2011 (feels like yesterday!), I decided it was time for me to branch out on my own. That’s when I started Samantha Bryant Public Relations.

What I love most about PR is diving into what each client specializes in and learning. PR is a constant learning experience and the landscape is continually changing.

Speaking of changing, my website got a makeover and that’s when I decided it was time for me to be on Instagram (besides sharing photos of my kiddos on my personal account).

It’s nice to be here and connect. Join me as I share media coverage tips, PR insight, trends, and client news.

The year of the coronavirus, with all its restrictions, created more opportunities, in the case of the Schumachers, for Darin to be with his sons as online teaching and learning brought them together. “We get to do a lot of things at home,” he said.

Others reported the same findings. A new survey recently released by Pearson and Connections Academy found that 84% of dads became more involved in their child's education during the pandemic and it was an experience they found gratifying.
