1. What Form of Payment do you take?
We completed our last State Inspection and will now be able to accept DHS childcare payments as well as cash, check, etc.

2. Do you only serve Girls?
No, We serve children regardless of gender, gender identity, etc. However, a lot of our programs are specialize and tailored toward young girls. We do have limited seating available for young men- IF you choose to enroll your son.

3. Do you have a After-school/ latchkey program?
Absolutely… And our School age room is fire! 🔥🔥 computers, games, crafts, Dance, and Girls MENTORSHIP Programs 🥰

4. Where are you located?
We are located at 15140 Livernois Detroit Mi 48238 inside of Cultivating Spaces (Community Resource Center)

I would have never imagined that I would be introducing myself as a Photographer. Growing up I just loved to capture moments,not knowing that one moment would forever change my life. I saw a father walking down the street with his two little girls in hand. He was walking them to school. The little girls swung their father’s hand, laughed, and smiled at one another. At that moment, I said to myself, that needs to be captured to show the beauty of fatherhood. The thought of photography stayed only a dream until June of 2020.
I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures of moments but never knew it could be a gift to others. Heart of The City Photography was started because of that father but remembered because the pandemic allowed me to sit long enough with a dream that I had once forgotten. The dream to stop time for just a beat to capture cherished moments for others. So hello, I am Tay Ford, a photographer.

Ten years ago I would have never imagined myself in this place. I didn’t even believe something like this was possible for myself. But here I am sitting in my office with my brand on the wall. I’m so glad I stopped leaving myself out.

I did not want to do this.
I’m literally someone that when God tells me to do something, I’m going to do it- but I’m probably going to go kicking and screaming. I’m just being honest. I’m Jonah ALL day long. 🤦🏾‍♀️

I have been down this road before. Business Partnerships, I’ve even outlined a book on the lessons I’ve learned from a failed business. Not ONCE but TWICE I’ve opened a brick and mortar from start to finish. I’m talking putting your blood, sweat, and tears into a project. Painting, laying tile, installing everything, licenses, inspections. I’ve dealt with a slumlord, furnace going out in the winter, ceiling falling in, bad pipes, and having an unequally distributed load amongst the partners.

I loss close- very close friends and a lot of money.

So no, I wasn’t jumping at the bit to do this again. In fact, I was extremely hesitant. I was caution. I was prayerful. Even more than this I was obedient.

Because It’s Bigger than me.

The vision is bigger than what I can carry alone, and far bigger than what I can comprehend right now. I’m just letting God have his way because I make mistakes, he doesn’t.

It took us almost a year to find a building, oh but when God gave us favor and directed our paths.

He positioned us for this, he gave my mom favor with the owner- which in turn got us a lease for $1,000 cheaper than what was Initially advertised. We had keys weeks before our lease actually began. Everything we needed God provided. Tables, chairs, etc. we had them when we got the keys.
