I shot my first wedding of 2025 on Friday at the Detroit Athletic Club. Shortly after I arrived, a gentleman approached me as I stood with my camera and said, “You capture memories of people that will last a lifetime. That’s a noble job.”⁣
⁣
It stopped me in my tracks. I’ve often reflected on the importance of preserving moments—their timelessness and beauty—but I’ve never considered my work “noble.” What a heartwarming compliment that reminded me how deeply meaningful this work is.⁣
⁣
As I step into this new year, my heart is full of gratitude for all that 2024 held. I photographed some of my favorite weddings in all 12 years of business and captured love at new-to-me venues. I shot my first international wedding (a dream come true!) and booked even more destination weddings for this year.⁣
⁣
Outside of work, I focused on my “why.” I leaned into my faith, grew closer to Jesus, and soaked in sweet, fleeting moments with my family. I tried to slow down, prioritized my physical and mental health, and trusted in God through every challenge (spoiler alert: He always had my back). I spent as much time as I could with friends, especially as the year wrapped up, and even had the chance to travel the world. My blessings are abundant, and I counted every single one.⁣
⁣
Here’s to a new year filled with growth, gratitude, and moments that matter most. 🖤 Oh, and GO LIONS! 🦁💙
