Plumerias are still blooming! Not all but some! They are such amazing trees and give us gorgeous flowers almost the entire year! It seems we have been hit with rust Really heavy this year! it's An airborne fungus that reacts to sun hours, heat and moisture. So for whatever reason, it's really heavy this year. I have been steadily stripping leaves each week getting ready for storage. Be sure and protect your plants. Don't take a chance leaving them out.I have customers every season Tell me what they lost in a freeze, It seems that we have one every winter! Potted plants can be taken in the house and watered Very slightly through the winter. They will go semi dormant, Of course a saucer is needed under them but don't let them sit in water. Large trees can be stored in a garage or storage shed On cardboard, old carpet or a tarp, off of the cold cement. Keep a small heater ready when our temperatures drop to freezing or below forty, the tips of plants Are the first thing to freeze and they have to be cut off , which means growing a whole new arm the next season.
Good Luck Everybody!
(All of the Flowers posted are much lighter than their true colors in summer)

I Love When customers send me pictures of their plumerias when they Bloom. These are some of the latest ones people have sent. Some of them are named varieties and some of them are seed grown, all are Beautiful!😁
I'll label the ones I'm sure of others are a guess, Also, flowers can be lighter or darker depending on the season. So this time of year a lot of the flowers are much lighter than they are in the heat of summer.

I have Begun winter storage. Moving smaller potted plants in the house. They will be watered slightly through the winter. Seedlings are going in the greenhouse.
I'm beginning to strip leaves off of the big trees that are in the ground. Rust seems very heavy this year. Some years we don't get much at all other years There's a lot, it all has to do with temperatures, humidity and less sun hours, so slowly
Moving things around and getting ready for winter. Be careful not to knock seed pods off of plants. They will not continue to grow if they're knocked off. A lot of plants are still blooming and new inflows coming out.So I try to leave those out as long as possible!

Flowers still blooming, beautiful bouquets & a few late bloomers this season!😁😁

As we're nearing the end of the season, you are probably starting to see the dreaded Rust! the orange speckled dust on the under Side of your leaves. It's a natural part of fall, summer ending, less sun hours, less heat. It's an airborne fungus. The best thing to do is cut the leaves off gently and put them in the garbage. You can keep it somewhat under control until we start Putting the plants away about Mid-november.
Plants Are still growing and flowering, producing seed pods and new inflows.
But I don't take any chances leaving anything out over the winter. It's just too risky. We seem to have a freeze every year and it's easier just to put the plants away, dig them up, Put them in storage, let them go dormant. Bring in the smaller ones in the house if you have room or put smaller plants in the greenhouse. Better safe than sorry! You can also store potted plants in a garage or a storage shed. You can leave them in the pot.And water very slightly through the winter.Keeping a small heater ready when temperatures drop too low!
Good luck!

Well we were Very lucky This time! the storm bypassed us, But use this time to think about prepping for fall and winter.
And deciding where your plants are gonna go, whether it's bringing them in, putting them in a greenhouse, Putting them in your garage, your storage shed. Remember garages and storage sheds can get to freezing temps. Keep a small heater ready to plug in when our temp drops below 50. We can enjoy plants & Flowers until the beginning of November. Then we really need to start putting them away.
Also, depending on what our fall & beginning of winter weather is looking like.We never know till it gets here!

Doing lots of storm prep today, not taking any chances. The last one surprised a lot of us. Move any of your potted plants that you can into a secure location.
Extra large pots can be tipped over.
So they're laying on the ground. Stake up your big trees that are in the ground. We all know these storms can change very quickly. We could get some seriously intense wind and rain. Good luck everybody.!
(These pics are just the beginning of moving plants to safer locations!) You might also want to pick some blooms and bring them inside in a bowl of water. We may not end up with many flowers after the storm passes!
