Chief Okemos Sportsman's Club, 4667 Gunnell Road, Dimondale, MI 48821, will be having their 2024 fall gun show on Sunday, September 29, from 9am to 3pm. Open to the public, admission is $4 per person. Items to be on sale include muzzleloading and modern fi****ms, reloading equipment, boots, shooting accessories, ammunition, knives, etc. Anyone intending to purchase a firearm (handgun or long gun) will need either a purchase permit or a current CPL. Vendor tables, 6 foot, are available at $20 per table. To reserve a table, volunteer or if you have any questions, call or text Mike Rhoads at 517-643-5989.

NOTE: The August newsletter had incorrect address for mailing in the table reservation form. The correct address is 7940 Willow Highway, Grand Ledge MI 48837. Junior .22 Rimfire Club will meet for the summer of 2024 starting May 6. 10-17 yrs Come and join us every Monday, 5:00 - 7:00 PM. You do not have to be a member of COSC to join the club. There is no cost, and all rifles, ammo, targets and eye/ear protection will be provided by COSC. Camp Dinner Reminder!

We hope you will plan to attend our 19th Annual Camp Dinner and raffle event on Saturday, March 9th, 2024.
We will start the evening with a Social Hour beginning at 4:00 PM, serving Merindorf's meats, cheese & crackers (BYOB). A delicious dinner will follow at 5:30. There will be "things you may want to own" raffles, a 50/50 raffle, and $1 & $5 raffles as well.

COSC CHRISTMAS PARTY DECEMBER 9th, 2023

Social hour is at 4:00pm and dinner at 5:00pm. The club will provide spiral sliced ham, coffee, hot chocolate, paper plates, and silverware. Please bring a dish to pass. If you wish, you may bring a beverage of your choice. Also bring the kids and/or grandkids because Santa will be coming. So, mark your calendars and plan on having a great time. Sight in days this year will be held on November 4th and 5th, and the next weekend, November 11th and 12th. They will start at 9am and finish at 3pm. My name is Craig Emens and I'm a COSC member. Providing a photo and story of my 8pt buck taken Oct. 1, 2023 at 7:03 am. Largest and most points I've ever taken.

Story:
Hunting in Livingston county on coworkers property. Started with doe at 4 yards eating acorns. Then spike came in followed by the buck I shot at 34 yards with Carbon Express Crossbow. Buck ran and stood in field, finally collapsed and expired within 50 yards. Crazy thing was a larger 9pt buck paced around the dead deer for several minutes and actually started sparring with the dead deer - I have video. Trust me, my deer is bigger than it looks. Just a perfect day to be in the woods (for a short amount of time 😀)

Craft Show information below

Hello all members, please remember that shooting hours do not start until 9 am daily and they end thirty minutes before sundown daily. For example, Saturday September 23, 2023 sunset was at 7:34 pm therefore, we must stop shooting by 7:04 pm.

We have had several complaints about members shooting after sundown this week. Anyone caught shooting outside of these hours will have their membership revoked.

We apologize for the short notice, one of the Michigan State Police Emergency Support teams has asked to use our rifle range Tuesday and Wednesday, August 22nd and 23rd from 9am until 3pm. This is most likely a one-time request while their normal training facility is not available and has been approved by the COSC board. The rifle range will be unavailable for member use during these times these two days.
