The Story Behind Lena’s Social Club

Lena’s Social Club is the result of a heartfelt return to Dixon, IL, by Greg and Heather (Finn) Huffman, who grew up here and are returning after over 25 years away. Following the loss of their fathers in the past two years, they reevaluated life and decided to return home to serve the community they love, grow old with friends, and leave a legacy of kindness, excellence, and service.

Greg brings over 25 years of restaurant experience, while Heather offers extensive expertise in business management, customer service, training, and marketing. Their complementary skillsets are the perfect match for creating a space that delivers both exceptional food and a remarkable experience.

The name Lena’s honors three incredible women who exemplified these values: Greg’s grandmother Lena Huffman, Heather’s great-grandmother Lena Anderson, and Heather’s mother, Harlena Finn—each of whom personified service.

At Lena’s Social Club, the Huffmans are building a place where community comes together to enjoy innovative comfort food, exceptional service, and a warm atmosphere. It’s a space where everyone is treated like a member, relationships thrive, and kindness and excellence guide everything they do.

🌟 Meet Heather Huffman, Owner and Managing Partner at Lena’s Social Club 🌟

Heather (Finn) Huffman brings a blend of corporate expertise, community passion, and a truly unique spirit to Lena’s Social Club. With a bachelor’s degree in Communication (Public Relations) and a graduate degree in Education, Heather has navigated a dynamic career. She’s led a large customer service call center, guided training, marketing, and sales teams in the insurance industry, and even owned a small business.

But Heather’s heart has always belonged to her hometown of Dixon. Growing up in Dixon, she loved being involved in her high school community, Eastman School of Dance, and making connections that would stay with her. After spending 27 years away, she’s thrilled to return to the place that shaped her and can’t wait to give back and make an impact in her community as an adult.

Beyond her professional background, Heather’s passion for people shines through. She’s written children’s Sunday School curriculum, founded a free dance program for kids in Kansas City, and will be a featured author in Slaying Chicago, set for release in spring 2025. Her love for hospitality, service, and creating meaningful connections is at the heart of Lena’s Social Club. Heather has always danced to the beat of her own drummer, and Lena’s reflects that spirit—a warm, welcoming space where her community can feel right at home.

Unexpected delays led us to make the tough decision to adjust our hiring and onboarding timeline. At that time, we opted to keep a small team for immediate needs while postponing full staff hiring until late November. We are beyond grateful for the excitement, support, and encouragement you’ve shared with us! Building Lena’s has truly been a labor of love, and we’re working hard behind the scenes to create a space where everyone is valued and every dish is crafted with care.

As part of our commitment to excellence, we’ve been working alongside talented chefs from Milwaukee and Chicago to bring unique flavors and fresh ideas to Dixon. We’re also collaborating with branding experts and a business strategist because we take providing an amazing experience for our hometown community very seriously. While we’re still finalizing the space at 104 S Peoria, we’d love for you to see the transformation unfold!

Due to ongoing construction, we aren’t ready to set a grand opening date just yet, but stay tuned. We’re planning to open in stages, starting with delivery and our banquet room, followed soon by the full dining experience. Initially, we’ll have a limited menu as we perfect our flavors and service, and we’ll introduce the full menu in stages to ensure every dish shines.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we bring this dream to life. Lena’s is rooted in community, creativity, commitment, kindness, and excellence—values we know are worth the wait.
