This weekend was a grind. Literally. We finally got all the old flooring up, which turned out to be a nightmare layer-cake of tile, adhesive, linoleum, more adhesive, and then even more adhesive just for fun. I don’t know what industrial-strength sorcery that glue was made of, but someone needs to start using it to solve real-world problems like keeping high heels from snapping. It was messy, loud, and downright exhausting, but the space is already starting to look and feel completely new! Huge progress! I'm sore in places I didn’t know existed, but also feeling pretty damn accomplished.
Huge shoutout to Amanda Deel for not only putting in serious time and effort, but for being solid company through the madness. You da real MVP! Thank you for showing up in every way.
Also, major props to my business partner/roommate who couldn’t resist the shiny new toy I rented (aka the floor grinder) and just had to be the first to play with it - instructions be damned. Naturally, this ended with him nearly sacrificing a toe to the renovation gods. Not to worry though, we salvaged enough of it that he can still pursue his dream of foot modeling, but probably just for nursing school textbooks now. True dedication right there.
And I finally got to meet all the owners of the building - one by one, like some sort of slow-motion sibling reveal. Each of them was kind, welcoming, and genuinely excited about the changes we’re making and the vision for what this place is becoming. That kind of support hits different, especially when you're pouring your whole heart into something.
Big progress, good people, and a few cuts and bruises. Feels like we’re right on track!
Next up: walls, paint, and a few surprises that’ll bring the whole vibe together!
