La Plata County W**d Office assistance programs:

Free site visits and w**d management plans:
The county w**d manager will come out to your property to meet with you and walk through areas of concern. Non-native, poisonous, and native plants will be identified. A custom plan will be created for the property using landowner/manager goals as guide. Once you receive this w**d plan, you will have a one-page guide that will outline what w**ds need to be controlled, at what time, herbicide recommendations, rate, whether mechanical or organic methods are effective, and more.

Cost-share program: to assist residents, homeowners’ associations and private land managers in treating noxious w**ds.
Eligible property owners can be reimbursed for up to 50 percent of the cost for materials used to treat noxious and invasive w**ds identified by La Plata County or the state of Colorado as priorities. Materials include herbicides, surfactants, and seed mixes. Now native plants treated in the context of fuels mitigation will be eligible. The maximum reimbursement under the program is $599 per landowner. W**ds must be treated prior to applying for reimbursement.
To be eligible, landowners must have a county-issued w**d management plan developed within the past five years. Applicants will be considered if La Plata County’s w**d control coordinator confirms the presence of the targeted w**ds or those identified as Colorado List A, B, or C w**ds: https://www.co.laplata.co.us/.../noxious_w**d_list.php
W**d treatments must be applied only to the lands described in the county issued w**d management plan and reimbursement is limited to 50 percent of the actual cost for materials purchased March 1 through Nov. 15. A w**d management plan is not needed if a Colorado-licensed professional performs the treatment. If a landowner hires outside help for pesticide application, payment must be made to a licensed applicator. The application deadline is Nov. 15.

New! Backpack loan program
Landowners/managers who have smaller infestations of county and state listed w**ds can apply for a backpack sprayer rental. The w**d office will premix all appropriate herbicide and surfactant for the w**ds listed in you w**d plan. There are 2 and 4 gallon sprayers available. The cost is $20 for each sprayer rental and $10 for additional premixes (up to 2) for a total of 3 mixes.

To find out more about this program, apply for cost-share or to schedule a site visit to develop a w**d management plan, visit www.laplataw**ds.org, email, [email protected] , call 970-382-6470, or visit the w**d office at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main, Durango.

TBRI® Caregiver Training: Introduction and Overview (Durango, Colorado) - February 19th

Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) is designed to meet the complex needs of children who have experienced adversity, early harm, toxic stress, and/or trauma. Because of their histories, it is often difficult for these children to trust the loving adults in their lives, which often results in perplexing behaviors. TBRI® offers practical tools for parents, caregivers, teachers, or anyone who works with children to see the “whole child” in their care and help that child reach his highest potential. In this training, we will explore the TBRI® principles and background, giving you tangible tools to help build your trauma-informed lens and apply TBRI® in your home, work, and everyday life.

About TBRI®:

Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) is a parenting and intervention model developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross at the TCU Institute of Child Development. TBRI® is based on a solid foundation of neuropsychological theory and research, tempered by humanitarian principles. It is a family-based intervention that is designed for children who have experienced relationship-based traumas such as institutionalization, multiple foster placements, maltreatment, and/or neglect.

Please Note: *You must attend the Introduction Class in order to attend any of the in-depth trainings.* You also must attend the in-depth trainings to have a full understanding of TBRI® and its impact on the children you serve and to be eligible for ongoing services with the Family Services and Support program. The Introduction Class will begin at 8am and end at 11am on Feburary 19th (session 1). The Connecting Class will begin at 12pm and end at 5pm on February 19th(session 2). The Empowering Class will begin at 9am and end at 4pm on Februrary 20th (session 3). The Correcting Class will begin at 9am and end at 4pm on February 21st (session 4). When filling out questions in your order form, you will be able to indicate what sessions you can attend. *You must attend the Introduction Class in order to attend any of the in-depth trainings.*

Shaylan Garrett, facilitator, studied under DR. David Cross and the team at the TCU Institute of Child Development. The training will utilize the TBRI® curriculum developed by the Institute. Shaylan has received advanced training regarding this curriculum and has been qualified as a TBRI® Practitioner to present the content.
