La Plata County to host public meeting on Fairgrounds master plan
La Plata County will host a public meeting to discuss the progress of the La Plata County Fairgrounds and Event Center master plan from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 in the Exhibit Hall Building at the Fairgrounds, located at 2500 Main Ave. in Durango.
County staff will provide updates on proposed designs recap the thoughts and findings from previous public engagement and outline goals moving forward. All residents are invited to participate in the ongoing process and this meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to voice opinions, ask questions and meet with the design team.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Durango Daybreak members Terry Logan, Dane Hedrick, Dan Clark, and Hunter McClearly for working on the installation of the bike racks provided by Visit Durango. These bike racks were placed at Memorial Park, Fassbinder Park, Overend Mountain Park trailhead on Leyden St., Dalla Mountain Park trailhead, and the trailhead for Animas City Mountain.

Thursday, October 24, 7PM: Fort Lewis College, Noble Hall Room 130: Please join the life-long learning community as well-known local ”Garden Guys” Darrin Parmenter and Tom Bartels (Grow Food Well) share helpful hints on how to plant a garden that you need to w**d only once a year, while harvesting lots of food, and bringing endless smiles to you and your friends. Parmenter is the Western Region Director for the CSU Extension and former Horticulturist and Director in La Plata County. Bartels has been teaching for over ten years, grows vegetables in Durango, and is a worm rancher extraordinaire. Let's fill the room with gardeners!

Life-Long learning is a free lecture series. The lecture is approximately one hour, with additional time for questions and discussion

WOW, La Plata County folks have shown up in some big numbers today for the Household Hazardous Waste 2024 Collections! We are taking collections through 2 pm today. Bring your patience there is quite a line heading out to Main Avenue. You can only enter by going north on Main Avenue and turning right into the La Plata County Fairgrounds and Event Center parking lot.
