Access through the La Plata County Fairgrounds and Event Center is now limited due to unlawful actions.

Effective Thursday, Sept. 11, all northbound foot traffic access into the La Plata County Fairgrounds from the River Trail, Durango High School, and Senior Center will be routed to Main Avenue. The gates into the Patio and Courtyard have been locked with signage directing pedestrians to Main Avenue.

Increased incidences of littering, vandalism, theft, speeding, graffiti, and loitering on Fairgrounds property have been on the rise, and this restricted access is an effort to limit staff time and resources previously dedicated to these problems.

La Plata County Fairgrounds and Event Centerindoor rooms are closed during renovations
The La Plata County Fairgrounds is closed for indoor events while renovations are performed on the Exhibit Hall and Extension Office buildings. The closure is in effect through Sunday, Nov. 2 (construction delays could affect the closure schedule).
The indoor closure does not affect previously scheduled events at Fairgrounds facilities, including the outdoor parking lots, arena, and pavilion. Reservations for those facilities can still be made by calling Emily Spencer at (970) 382-6467.
