For September our theme is “The Space Bar.” What does that mean? That’s up to you. Is it about the evolution of that button on the keyboard? Is it about the spaces between us? Is it about the bar, “10Forward,” on Star Trek? Should I wear my alien costume? Point is: Skye’s Trivia Variety Show is evolving and it’s time to take it to the next level, where YOU are the show! (If you want, that is. You could also, you know, just play along). Get in touch and say “I want in!” Your host really wants to do tell you about how prune juice is a warrior’s drink, ...so there’s that. Still lost but intrigued? We don’t blame you. Here are some ideas:
- help write and perform a short skit
- tell a story
- share a joke
- sing a few lines or a whole song, alone or with others
- play some music
- participate in a group on-stage table-read of a scene from a movie or TV show
- perform charades
- host a short game
- anything else you can think of!

Our event is not (just) a “trivia night,” it’s a collaborative, q***r-run, monthly themed variety show. The goal is q***r joy and q***r community building and we can’t do it without you. Get in touch with your hosts here or at [email protected]

Skye’s Trivia Variety Show is evolving and it’s time to take it to the next level, where YOU are the show! Our event is not (just) a “trivia night,” it’s a collaborative, q***r-run, monthly themed variety show. The goal is q***r joy and q***r community building and we can’t do it without you!

(If you want, that is. You could also, you know, just play along).

Season 3 - Episode 8 Los Ángeles

After our Playtime extravaganza in July, we return to our standard format with a focus on the west coast metropolis known as Los Ángeles! The people, the history, the legacy of social and political activism, the food (we may just have to have food at this one), the music, the films... there’s so much about this city to dig into! Hosted by Elana Rosičková and Ivy Davida.

The Skye Trivia Show at Marigold Theater is a free q***r-run, recurring, themed monthly event on first Wednesdays, a different theme each month.

We’d like to thank the FOURTEEN (14) volunteer collaborators who are stepping up to help out on tomorrow night’s extravaganza at . For the admission cost of ZERO dollars and cents you get hours of fun and entertainment plus you could win PRIZES like tickets to an upcoming Marigold show, a Marigold t-shirt, a bunch of different games (only a fraction pictured here) and more!

Wednesday July 2, it’s a scavenger hunt with mini-games built in and some games trivia, to boot. Beat the Boss at the video game station, play some lightning cribbage, or follow the clues all over Marigold in two different hidden object adventures! And those are just a fraction of the activities we’ve got planned. Dear friend of the show is crafting these figurines resembling classic game pieces for the “What Goes Where?” Challenge. And we’ve got a games-themed soundtrack all night long. We’ve really thought of it all!

With all the hard work involved it would be such a shame if we didn’t get a big enthusiastic crowd so, please let people know! We’re going to tag a bunch of people on this post, all regulars and friends of the show. We’d like to ask everyone to do what you can to get people to come out. It’s free and all ages! See you tomorrow night, Wednesday 7/2, 7pm sharp!

The Skye Trivia Show’s PLAYTIME! is soooo on. Wed July 2 Doors 6:30. We start 7:00 at ALL AGES - FREE - PRIZES - SCAVENGER HUNT!

Some ways YOU can help: music suggestions - prize donations - volunteer - promote

We are preparing quite an event, you simply can’t miss this!

1) MUSIC PLAYLIST- we have some regular songs with game in the title, etc., game show themes, video game songs. But only like an hour’s worth. Need some filler. Suggestions? Put them in the comments.

2) DONATE PRIZES- We have some games and other stuff for the prize table but we need more. Doesn’t have to be game-themed or octopus-themed, but can be. Share a prize and we’ll promote your art, music, performance, business at the event (and in the future)!

3) VOLUNTEER- If you wanna host a game table (as a formal part of the event or just for fun), run a scavenger hunt activity, or just help out in general, get in touch!

4) PROMOTE- Help get the word out about this all ages, free, amazing ball of fun!

This is going to be the BEST Skye Trivia show ever! It has been revised and reworked over a 5-month period, and benefits from already having had a trial run. We don’t care if you think you know f**k all about ethereal sprits or drinkable spirits, this is going to be way fun. Plus you’ll learn some fascinating stuff about how we distilled spirits came to be a thing, and how that process was intertwined with historical mystical spiritual movements. It’s been so joyful to put this together, please put it on your calendar so we can share it with you!

The Vernal Equinox is upon us! Happy Spring! And with the coming of spring, warm temperatures and sunshine, we delve into the world of FIRE. It is the season of Aries, the cardinal fire sign in western astrology. Several of our Marigold family are Aries, including your hosts, who will be celebrating their 52nd birthday at this event.

As we often do in the Skye Trivia style, we’ll explore fire in all the ways: as a chemical reaction, as a world-changing invention, and primary force in history, as used in popular culture, in language, in all the ways you can imagine. Come join your community at this fun event hosted by Elana Rosičková and Ivy Davida!

The Skye Trivia Show at Marigold Theater is a free q***r-run, recurring, themed monthly event on first Wednesdays, a different theme each month. Slideshows with questions and answers of recent shows are available at linktr.ee/skyetrivia (link in bio)

Marigold Theater is a smoke-free, wheelchair accessible space (enter through main entrance, slight incline upon entry, no steps). Masks are welcome but not required. There are no scent-free rules. Outside food is welcome except in the adjoining café. Please no outside beverages. The space has a capacity of 150. Marigold is a q***r-friendly establishment.

PARKING: All nearby parking is free. If no parking is available on nearby streets or in the lot across the street, there is a large parking lot at City Hall municipal building at 50 Payson Avenue, across the street from the pond and boardwalk

NEXT SUNDAY! 7pm March 23 at Gigantic’s Q***r night:

In this first installation of SPIRITS- we’ll take you from the fall of the dinosaurs all the way to the tiki escapism, via absinthe (and much more) in just 2.5 hours!

The Skye Trivia Show takes it on the road for the premiere if this SPECIAL EDITION event. The theme is SPIRITS (both drinkable and ethereal). Come join your community at this fun, free event hosted by Elana Rosičková and Ivy Davida!

SPRING IS COMING, and we won’t just survive, we will THRIVE! Our next event is just days after the Equinox, debuting a new version of the Skye Trivia Show at Gigantic’s Q***r Night, Sunday the 23rd.

Then, for our monthly event at Marigold, it will be your hosts’ 52nd birthday and we’ll be celebrating the season of Aries and our Aries Marigold friends with a theme of FIRE.

And for events further down the line we’re leaning towards the theme of RESISTANCE in June, our annual GENERATION X event in June, and a Game Night at Marigold paired with a VIDEO GAMES theme, cohosted by Luka who co-hosted last year‘s “Playtime“ theme.

These are all tentative, and feel free to chime in with your two cents.

Other themes we have on the shelf include A.I., S*x, Revolution, Dutch, Los Angeles, London, New York, Empires, and Origins.

Wow, what a lovely night for Season 3, Episode 3: The Southern Hemisphere version of our monthly event first Wednesdays at ! Thanks to Marigold for hosting us for 27 months now, and love to Bri for rocking it solo behind the bar all night!

Our favorite category this time was “Are There Ants in Antarctica 🐜,” and our favorite portmanteau answer of the night was “Cha Cha Charlize Theron.” We enjoyed revisiting Priscilla Queen of the Desert, too (also covered in the first Southern Hemisphere event in 2023)

Thanks to our loyal supporters for all the love they bring to the event and the encouragement they provide to the host.

And HUGE thanks to Anna Simpson for playing piano for the live musical name that tune category!

We’ll see you all next at for the debut of our special edition Spirits show on Q***r Night, Sunday March 23. Help us pack the place so we can do this unique version of our show there again in the future!
