Trail check today. Here’s what Sunday Running Nuts participants should know about The Park 5Kish trail:

Grass trails are wet in the morning. ✅
Your shoes and socks will get wet too✅
It’s an all-terrain trail (grass, mud, sand, hilly, & flat) ✅
An almost 50-yr-old woman took an hour to walk it ✅
ALL runners will be faster. ✅😂
Steep, sandy hills are hard to hike. ✅

We do hard things to remind ourselves that we can do hard things. We do hard things for a bigger cause to remind ourselves that we have capacity to play it forward for others whenever we choose to do that. ✅

It’s a beautiful walk/run for a worthy cause and you can sign up online or show up on Sunday. (link in bio)

to the video explaining the reason Running Nuts got started in the first place back in 2021.

In support of good men who are faced with the tough news of testicular cancer, the Play it Forward will support the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation. Lots has changed since that first Running Nuts event and we are so glad it is back at The Park this upcoming Sunday. (And Audric Karl Buhr will be there too with his lovely wife and a couple of their children) We do hope you’ll stop by, even if it’s to simply toast to better health and better times.

Meagan Frank, owner of WoodWind Park, sits down with Audric Buhr, a testicular cancer survivor, to talk about why they are Playing it Forward at the Running ...

On this, the International Day of Play, we celebrate the workers hammering, cutting, drilling, carrying and pounding to create a welcoming place to gather.

Pavilion progress continues. Ceiling panels and walls are going up. Doors are arriving soon and because of hard work, this big space is just about ready for all the playing you can imagine. Weddings, dances, parties, reunions, banquets, anniversaries, and retreats. Play needs our people and people need a space to gather. We got you!

CAUGHT ON CAMERA!! RACE DAY DRAMA at the Kid’s Run in Menomonie today. (Brooke’s kids are tough nuts!!)

Initially challenged by Mr. Peanut’s presence, this young brute showed his full strength. We know he was trying to intimidate everyone leading up to the one-mile fun run next weekend on Father’s Day at The Park. (11 am start for the 1-mile. 5Kish is self-start, self-timed)

All of this went down at the this morning. Mr. P was there to scout out his potential competition. The littles were obviously not phased. They showed fierce strength and speed.

Mr. P is going to do his best to get ready for the trail run. Why don’t you join him? There is a challenging, hilly 5Kish and a one-mile run. Or just come out to throw a few bucks in the donation jar for the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation.

We’ll have hot dogs, s’mores, beverages and a DJ. Play it Forward for the special men in your life. Registration link in bio.

We really enjoyed hosting Boyceville Community School District students for a service day at The Park. They raked pine cones and needles, cleaned trails and pulled weeds. So many hands make a beautiful difference. Thank you!

We got oh so close to a winter play moment last week, but now we’re prepping for spring.

The ground was too warm and the snow was too soft when 4-5 inches fell for the first time all winter.

Winter ‘23-‘24 will go down as the winter it didn’t snow.
It will also go down as the winter we got the tube lift installed and the pavilion poles set.

We’re bracing for the second round of slush as temps creep back up to the 40s and 50s in the coming days and we’ll get back to work on other projects as things dry out.

🥏 Disc Golf Course
🥾Hiking Trails
🎉 Party Pavilion
👰Bridal Suite
🤵‍♂️Groom’s Room
🥜🏃Nut Run on Father’s Day

We definitely ride the ups and downs of the Let’s-Build-A-Park story, but don’t count us out.

Pivot #1,000,000😊❤️

What was once the 10th hole bar of the Deepwood golf course is transforming into a hospitality room and bridal suite. It’ll be a room with something old, something new and something borrowed. What should be something blue?

We wholeheartedly believe winter is coming. In preparation to welcome people who love to play in the snow, we are still building our Park Posse.

Playing it Forward will always be part of our mission at The Park. We are so grateful to live in a community with so many like-minded folks.

We needed some straw bales to help shape the lanes for tubing and the Prochnows had some. They asked that we use the money we would spend to buy them to make a donation to a group that consistently fundraises for kids to play. Win. Win. And Win!

Today’s is so cool!

One picture is of the modern install in progress for the tube lift. The other picture is of remnant parts we’ve found of the handmade lift used on this hill for toboggans over 50 years ago. (Tire rim and cemented post in a cinder block)

We’re hooking up electricity, they ran diesel engines.

The cool part is that we found 6 big metal eyebolts that were among Ray Fritz’s stash of materials. They are stronger than what came with the lift, fit perfectly, and they will be used for the base install. A part of Ray will forever be cemented in the base pad that will house the new lift.

We have always wanted to honor the work and vision of the families and builders who came before us. We never imagined they’d be included in the modern version of lift construction. What a crazy ride! 😜

The tubes are getting excited to move to their new home! They know it’ll be a great place to rest after full winter days riding up on the lift (carrying happy, resting riders) and then flying down the oh-geez-that’s-a-pretty-steep-tube-hill hill.

LOTS happening at The Park these days. We need those mild weather thoughts for a few more weeks and then pray like crazy for lots and lots of snow. ❄️

We’re pulling together all the pieces we need to get you tubing-loving people up the hill!! As fun as hike the hill has been, don’t you think it’ll be so much more fun to ride up on a lift?

We need the following weather cooperation over the next couple weeks: mild and not too much snow while we install it and buckets and buckets of snow after it’s in. Thanks for sending positive vibes our way.

Updates will be forthcoming❄️🛷🎉

We're hiring!
WWP is seeking to hire a team of part-time lumberjacks. Ok, so not exactly lumberjacks, but definitely jacks of all trades. (Or Jills if that's you!) We need athletic, strong, outdoorsy folks willing to tromp through snow, move heavy things, light and tend fires, push people down hills (on tubes of course), split wood, shovel, groom trails, make ice and other odd jobs. So fill out the form and let us know what you would like to do, what you'd be willing to do, what we'd have to pay you ridiculous amounts of money to do (not that we would, just so we know!)
Only positive, play-it-forward sort of people need apply. Starting pay $15-$18/hour depending on experience. Shifts and hours are flexible. Help us build our team and share with anyone in the Chippewa Valley you think would be a good fit.

Interested in helping make our vision a reality? We have volunteer positions to put your energy to good work. We appreciate your support!
