TALENT SPOTLIGHT. Vaudeville Roslyn in STILL ROARING.
LANE BRADBURY:
As a little girl, Lane Bradbury saw her first ballet, with real fairies and elves on stage, and fell in love with classical ballet. She began her studies with Miss Dorothy Alexander immediately.
At age 15, Lane was cast in a play as the tile character, Ondine. Her parents recognized her talent, and encouraged her in that direction.
After high school, Lane continued her ballet studies, as well as pantomime, at The Ballet Theater School and Columbia University. At Columbia, Tom Wheatly became acting mentor. Subsequently, Lane was accepted to the famed Actors Studio as their youngest ever member.
Lane’s Broadway career began when Elia Kazan cast her in the roll of Jolly Adams in the play JB. She went on to play Dainty June in the ‘new’ musical Gypsy; Charlotte Goodall in Tennessee Williams Night of the Iguana; and June Havoc’s Marathon 33.
After a move to the West Coast Lane guest starred in over 60 TV shows, including a recurring character in Gunsmoke. Movies of the Week include: Dial Hot Line, Here Comes Bronson, and Maybe I’ll Come in the Spring with Sally Field.
Wishing a return to her theatrical roots, Lane returned to New York to perform a one-woman cabaret show, Let Me Entertain You Again, written for her by Doug DeVita, and directed by her daughter Elkin Antoniou.
Lane’s memoir, An Unruly Imagination, can be purchased on Amazon.
She performs her Mon Histoire en Chansons Françaises cabaret at various venues, an homage to composers and singers such as Jean Villard Gilles, Abba, Yves Montand, Darius Milhaud, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Edith Piaf. She also performs her cabaret, We Must Remember These Moments, written with musical director Michael Roberts, and Jamie Beaman.
Lane is a new member of The Open Book Theatre, and stars as Vintage Roslyn in their upcoming, fully dramatized audio production of Still Roaring: From Vaudeville to Vintage.
