Happy Wedding Day Hannah + Preston!

The first wedding of the year was so fun to design and put together! It’s been almost 4 whole months since my last wedding, I have missed this!

All these florals in the ceremony space will be flipped and brought into the barn for the reception! I love repurposed pieces! The big floral meadows at the head of the aisle are over 4 feet wide and will be gorgeous at the base of the sweetheart table.
I also love using bridesmaids bouquets as additional centerpieces!

If you’re getting married this year (or next) I’d love to connect with you!

“What is this stuff?”
Still is awe of this curious little guy! I think I’ve decided to let him remain a bull & he can be the new leader of the herd.

I love the name “Fritz” for him, it means “Peaceful Ruler” but more commonly it’s a state of disorder ..and I can fully relate 😉

His sire is a Scottish Highland, and his mom is half Scottish Highland x Black Angus. That means he should be just fine this weekend when the winter snow storm hits! I love the Scottish Highlands because they are so hardy in both the cold and heat and they’re one of the most docile breeds, making them easy keepers. They’re also one of my favorite breeds for beef! I got to meet his dad this summer, and he was kept as their herd bull because of his disposition-he was so calm and easy going! The farmer has bred him for years and said that that specific genetic trait was prevalent throughout the rest of his cattle.

The Highlands are one of the slower growing breeds, known for their lean & tender meat-but with the Angus cross mixed in, I think it’ll be an amazing pairing for raising beef cows. I have three cows he can cover once he’s old enough in about a year and a half, I’m very excited about this new legacy!

Welcome October!

🎄I’m so excited because this means Christmas Minis are next month!! I’ll be at Tiny Hearts Homestead for the 5th annual mini sessions + animal experience. Unlike my farm, at Tiny Hearts you get to go in the pasture with the animals, take pictures, love on them, it’s so much fun for everyone! Brooke will also be setting up a Mimosa Bar along with the coffee and hot cocoa!! I’m telling you, it’s the best experience for everyone! We do two full days of photos to try and get everyone in, so book fast! We can’t wait to see you all!!

I’ll be hosting my Christmas minis in the barn on November 23rd here on my farm.

You can book either locations on my website

Our u-pick field got some very unexpected frost last night! Some of the dahlias, a lot of the zinnia, got hit with frost, killing the plant and flowers.

I’m going to close the u-pick field this week so I can closely watch the plants that survived and make sure their blooms weren’t compromised & are healthy enough to cut on.

👻Our Pumpkin Bouquet workshop is still happening this Saturday at 5:30pm. Worst case we can cut from the bridal field up top where the flowers were safe from the frost.

Oh, the joys of flower farming!

FRESH CUT FLOWERS supporting our firefighters!
$20 on the flower cart all week

Every penny spent on wraps this week will be donated to the LLS Firefighter Stairclimb next spring. My goal is to raise enough money to sponsor my husband’s entire crew to climb the Columbia Tower-it’s 788ft! It’s the second tallest building west of the Mississippi!

✨the flower stand will be at this Saturday with fresh flowers too! You can preorder a bouquet on my website and pick up between 4-9pm at Doxsa (In Buckley off Cedar Street)

It will be a self serve stand, I’ll be back at the farm but I hope you can swing by and help support our firefighters! Did you know the owners of Doxsa are part of our firefighter family!? Kevin and Blake work together& Kevin helped us move into our farm three years ago! ♥️🚒

🧯You can always Venmo a donation to PetalsandPosies

Happy First Day of FALL!! 🍂🍁🍃

This season flew by!! We are nearing the last few weeks with the flowers. Everyone has been asking “when does your season end?” Our flower season ends with the first hard frost. Last year it was right around October 25th, but you need to be prepared for frost anytime in October. There’s been a chill in the air in the mornings, and I have a feeling we may have an early frost-but I really hope I’m wrong!

Things to expect in your gardens as the season changes: weaker dahlia stems, slower production of flowers, flower heads setting seeds, powdery mildew, a change in the colors of your flowers as the days grow shorter.

🍁Cheers to fall ya’ll, when the leaves show us just how beautiful change can be!

Next up for her official introduction is this sweet little heifer. She’s a pure bred Scottish Highland, same kind of cattle my Great Uncle raised on his🇨🇭farm for decades. His 40 acre farm just sold last week, so this timing of bringing in my own small herd of highlands seems very fitting.

This little one already has my heart, as we offloaded her last night I noticed she was blind in her left eye. We don’t know if it’s actually just a case of pink eye, or if she got injured on the farm she came from..but either way we will do our best to fix her on Wednesday when we have our vet come out. We’ll also be castrating the chocolate bull calf we have named “Toblerone”

There are 4 new faces on the farm, here is the youngest one! He’s a bull calf, his sire is a Scottish Highland & his mom is here on the farm too-She’s a Scottish Highland x Angus & is expecting a calf this coming spring!

Names are hard, I can’t figure out what to call him! He’s cute as a button, fuzzy as a baby bear, and is the coolest chocolate color.

Miss Amara was a Top 10 favorite my first year growing dahlias, four years later- she is still top of the list! She is a total workhorse, her stems are long & sturdy, grows to about 6 feet tall, and her colors slowly change over the season making every bloom as unique as the next. If you’re looking to add a statement dahlia to your gardens next season don’t miss out on Miss Amara!

September is here! Which means September subscriptions start this Saturday! It’s a shorter subscription, just four weeks because something is telling me we’re going to have an early frost & our flowers won’t be around for much longer-I hope I’m wrong!

Our subscription bouquets are a premium, hand tied arrangement in a wrap, ready to place right in a vase. They’re about double the size of the daily Flower Cart wraps and less than the U-Pick bouquets..They’re a great deal and a fun way to enjoy the absolute best flowers our farm can grow!

You can sign up for the September Subscriptions on our website-they make a great gift too!
Bouquets are ready every Saturday by 9am

For a peony loving bride getting married in the middle of summer-how about a Kelgai Ann dahlia? They’re the closest thing to a peony I can offer July-October, and I think they’re an amazing substitute if you’re wanting to support local & get the same bouquet look. They’re such a fun flower to grow too, they open during the day and close up at night. If you can find them, grow them! They’re considered a “unicorn” because their tubers are in high demand & they sell out within seconds.
