✨NEW WORKSHOP NOVEMBER 17th✨
The flower season has ended for the year, but I want to show you what beauty can be created using natural elements growing all around us! I avoid buying flowers at all cost due to their unethical growing conditions. Imported flowers aren’t grown with the same regulations meaning the presence of pesticide residue is so much higher, you’re actually bringing toxins into your homes and on to your counters when you’re buying flowers from the grocery store.

I’d love to create these beautiful centerpieces with you on November 17th at in Buckley. They will be perfect for your Thanksgiving tables the following week!

Tickets are $45 & are available on my website.
Doxsa will be providing a drink ticket & appetizers
6:00pm to 8:00pm
We are limiting the tickets to 20 guests to ensure one on one instructions

I’ve been on the East Coast this last week & we got our first frost back home on the farm. The frost marks the end of our flower season each year as it kills all the dahlias and most all other flowers in the field. The Eucalyptus can handle some frost but I’ll need to get some protection when I get home to help it get thru it’s first winter (I’ll be mulching the ground and making them personal greenhouses over the top of them.
If you left your dahlias in the ground and you also got a frost, it’s nothing to worry about. As long as your tubers in the ground don’t freeze, your flowers will return next summer. If you have your dahlias growing in raised pots, it’s best to bring them inside a garage or insulated shop for the winter-Some place where the soil can’t freeze all the way thru.

A (not so mini) THANK YOU to my dear friend Brooke, Campbell, her mini Scottish Highland, and the rest of the herd at Tiny Hearts Homestead for a wonder day on their farm! We had Christmas Minis (photographed by me) from 9a-4p yesterday and the best part was as the last family walked off set, the thunder and heavy rain rolled in on que. It was a perfect day-year four of our Christmas Mini collaboration is in the books!

✨I have my last wedding of the season today!
I wanted to share my favorite wedding from this season, but I couldn’t decide between these two! I loved the design work of Brittany’s wedding. Her arbor took over 400 water tubes but held perfectly during the 90° July sun.. then there’s Valerie’s icy blue wedding in August-it was as breathtaking as sub zero temperatures! Her bridesmaids dresses were absolutely stunning next to her bouquets!

Which is your favorite?

A huge THANK YOU to all my brides this year! I pour my heart into your wedding bouquets and I love you all for giving me the chance to be included in such a special day!🤍

It seems like the dahlia world is being rocked with some controversy this morning. There’s been rumblings but it’s now been confirmed this gorgeous girl is an imposter! I’m following for updates.. it seems like a flower farmers version of Gossip Girl watching all the tips roll in because we all want to know “Who is She!?”

My favorite white dahlia? IRISH RUFFLES

Prolific bloomer with a creamy beige center makes it a perfect fit for bridal work, it’s high petal count makes its vase life a little longer than the rest, and it’s strong sturdy stems help withstand those late fall wind storms. I’ve dubbed it a “Unicorn” variety because they are had to get your hands on them and they really stand out like no other!

I put some of our pumpkins out by the flower cart this morning, they’re $7, $3 or $2 for the kid’s size pumpkins. Hope you enjoy them! The kids and I worked hard to plant & harvest them. We sowed the seeds in June, on my Papa’s birthday 🧡 & we had a lot of fun growing them!

Barn Cats. They are essential on the farm, but it seems like we lose one every year to predators or the busy road. This week we thought we lost our pal, Pal. But it was his sister, Zinnia, we found in the middle of the road. I’ve started putting all the cats away every night and we’ve been tracking & dispatching the coyotes that run along the back creek. Farm life is so beautiful & so brutal. But at the end of the day, I’m so thankful my kids are learning life’s lessons-they handle the changes better than I do.

Spring Flowers are my absolute favorite kind of flowers to grow! They are the most labor intensive, I actually plant them next month and baby them all winter long. I experience the most failures & cry the most over growing spring flowers because the winters are long, harsh & very unforgiving.
But these beauties are a saving grace to my sanity. I can plant these and walk away-they don’t need frost protection, they aren’t grown in a greenhouse, they don’t need to be pre sprouted, pinched or transplanted. They’re usually one of the first flower of the year to bloom & their vase life is 12-15 days! AND they go dormant in the summer and come back year after year for me. I can’t rave enough about these Panda Anemones!

We only have a couple more weeks with these beauties!
I never know when the dahlia season will end because it’s completely up to Mother Nature. ❄️ As soon as we get a hard frost, it’s over. “Frostmas” came in November last year, but the year before that it was early October. So it’s time to grab those bouquets while we still have them & start planting those spring flowers soon! I plant my Tulips, Ranunculus, & Anemones next month. I have a ton of pastels, pinks, and white ranunculus corms available for purchase. They’ll be available on the website soon.
For now, stop by the flower cart & grab a $20 bouquet of dahlias before they’re gone for a year!
