In case you haven’t removed hellebore foliage yet, consider this a winter reminder! When you remove last year’s leaves you’ll immediately notice buds forming and growing!

It won’t be too long before we’ll harvest hellebore flowers for selling. We will have a limited supply of black, midnight blue, crystal white, pink and white and burgundy shades. ❤️❤️

Outside work is hard, requiring strong muscles, bones, flexibility, agility and endurance. A significant portion of Americans are eating processed and ultra processed foods, lacking sleep and exercise. I decided years ago to go to the gym specifically for heavy weight lifting, etc. and am conscientiously eating and drinking in a way to raise my own GLP-1 and Dopamine levels without drugs. I figure it’s my #1 job, to work on my health.

This just published book reiterates the power of nutrition and strength training to reduce chronic illness and pain. 15,000 new chemicals are sold every year, including those in our skin care products and food. Growing your own herbs, vegetables, fruit and nuts with regenerative and organic practices can mean the freshest and healthiest food possible. There is privilege in being able to do this, which my family doesn’t take for granted. EWG and Skin Deep is a good resource to sort out what your cosmetics actually contain. Michael Pollan’s Food Rules book is an excellent, quick read that will influence food purchases.

Local flowers, not sprayed with formaldehyde and other preservatives, are healthier for you and your home (another great read: Flower Confidential by Amy Stewart). Local grocery stores (think grocery including TJ) have flowers available that aren’t in season and super cheap-they’ve been sprayed and shipped thousands of miles from warmer climates.

Give the Good Energy book a read - I borrowed mine from our local library. I’ve also some great podcasts to recommend as well if you’re interested; they’re perfect to listen and learn from while working.

Mount A*o, a Japanese willow, available today at .market!

Watch these beautiful buds open to the softest most beautiful rose color and then eventually fade to silver.

Change the water every other day, keep in a window, and eventually, you may even eventually see little green leaves unfurling!

Continuing our annual family tradition with Wreaths Across America. Cemeteries across the country all participate at the same time to lay wreaths at veteran gravesites.

The ceremony involves all branches of the military - we otherwise rarely interact with military members. We also never go to a cemetery otherwise.

It’s always interesting to see who was recently buried, and what wars people fought in. Mr. White served in three wars! Also sparked family conversation about burial versus cremation, organ donation, etc. - important topics.

Pancreatic, lung, stomach and neuroendocrine cancer awareness month. Familiarize yourself with how to prevent and early detect a problem (ie: either being a smoker or second hand smoke, chronic cough, etc).

As we close out October, I wanted to honor the men and women who have been or will be diagnosed with breast cancer, including metastatic breast cancer (MBC). The youngest breast cancer survivor I’ve worked with was 15 and the oldest was close to 100.

Trust your instincts-find a doctor who will take your concerns seriously. Know your own body and get your annual screening exams.

Pink seems like a delicate color on the surface but if you look closely, comes in a range, with many facets and undertones, just like people. It’s a strong color and so are you. 💪
