After feeling like it was time to give up on dahlias due to the 12 months of hard work, Hollyhill Daydream just started and it is really putting on a show. You got me…again!

Many thanks to the stranger who gifted me the most incredible cutting of this variety-it was the healthiest and largest cutting I’ve ever gotten.

I sure wish I knew who you were so I could tell you thank you! 🌸

Sleeping bees are back-they’re all over many different flower types in my garden spaces!

It does my heart good to find them resting and then, as soon as the morning sun hits the flower, they rise and get to work 🐝

Cranberries are looking fantastic this year! I’ve never seen them look so prolific. It’s fascinating how one fruit takes off one year and then goes quiet for a while. I definitely notice that with our fruit trees as well.

I hope you are handling the heat OK wherever you are. It’s scary how hot it’s getting. 103 predicted here in the PNW for a few more days. 🥵

I usually forget how frantic this time of year is…everything’s bursting out of seeds, soil, reaching and competing for the light. There’s an intensity in the plants, the flowers and the weeds and slugs. Trying to stay on top of the watering, weeding, monitoring and tweaking the irrigation, hauling dirt, compost and mulch, seed sowing, dahlia planting and labeling, making and delivering bouquets, pest control, deadheading….its a lot. It’s good to stop and take photos. Soon it will be so hot that even the plants slow down.

More bees this year than ever, since I’ve concentrated on perennial > annual flower blooms throughout the year! They are loving the lavender I grew last year from cuttings.
