Wanting to plan a magazine worthy wedding day? Here are a few tips to help you elevate your wedding design.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Chose a sophisticated color pallet,l that compliments the feel, season or location of your wedding, typically five or six colors that are weaved throughout all the details of your day. This includes your bridal party, florals, table settings, decor, stationary, wedding day details, cocktails and even food.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Invest in fresh florals. For many couples flowers are an absolute must for a beautiful wedding day, but take it from me, faux flowers just don’t photograph as well as fresh florals. They always look fake, and they can also end up being even more expensive than the real thing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Consider what everyone will be wearing during your getting ready photos. Pictures of bridesmaids in beautiful silk robes or matching pajama sets are more elegant and cohesive than random outfits. This also makes for a great opportunity to apply your color pallet and is a beautiful bridesmaid gift.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Plan out you wedding day details with care. This will elevate the look of your day in your wedding album, and also will help to tell your story in a personal and meaningful way. A new wedding day perfume is one of my absolute favorite details to incorporate into wedding photos and makes a beautiful and memorable wedding day keepsake.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Incorporate a unique detail or event into your wedding day. This will make it exciting and memorable for both you and your guests. Unique themes, destinations, entertainment, activities and food are all incredible ways you could consider making your day even more unique and noteworthy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love helping my couples make decisions that elevate the look and feel of their day, so that the memories we make and capture are exactly what dreams are made of. Have questions about how to make your wedding day images more elegant or personal? Send a DM! I’d love to help.

A little sneak peak behind the scenes today…

On my way to a destination wedding in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where I get to work with some of the most amazing wedding professionals and all time favorite people.

As always, I get so caught up in what I’m working on, I forget to share stories of all the incredible work behind the scenes. But today, it’s my personal goal to share at least one!

What if I told you there was a way to make sure you took better wedding day photos? Well, you're in luck! Because I have plenty to share with you.

ENGAGEMENT SESSION

When you plan an engagement session with your wedding day photographer, you get to experience first hand how they work. You also get to see what it will be like taking pictures with your fiancé, and give you both the opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera. Come the day of your wedding, you'll know just what to do, and being more relaxed will result in more natural, authentic looking photos.

UNPLUGGED CEREMONY

Ask your guests to kindly put their phones away. This way, they can be more present in the moment, and your pictures will be more focused on you saying "I do" than all the cell phones in the air.

FAMILY FORMALS LIST

Creating a family formals list with your photographer will help ensure all your most important people are photographed on your wedding day. It also helps the process go more quickly and more smoothly, so everyone can get back to celebrating you.

A FIRST LOOK

A first look can have a major impact on your wedding day. Not only does it allow you to have an intimate moment together, but it allows you to get most of your formal photos out of the way before the ceremony starts. Giving you more time for photos, and more time to party.

PHOTOGRAPHY FRIENDLY TIMELINE

Consulting your photographer on your wedding day timeline is a must for better wedding day photos. You photographer will have insights about lighting, time frames and unique venue restrictions you'll want to consider that you and your planner are likely not aware of.

When you are trying to plan your wedding on your own, it can be hard. Like, really hard. You might even feel overwhelmed, stressed out or begin to feel decision paralysis set in.

I hear you. And I want you to know you are not alone. Before working with me, so many of my clients feel this way. It’s one of the reasons I love what I do so much. Because I love to give my couples recommendations on things like amazing vendors, ways to optimize their wedding budget, elevate the design and style of their wedding details, and plan a photography-friendly wedding day timeline.

Take it from me, there are a few things I wish I'd known when planning my own wedding, and after photographing couples all over the country, I've learned a few more. For some of these planning tips and more, check out the blog (link in bio), and if you're feeling like you'd love a wedding photographer who can help you curate the wedding (and images) of your dreams--let's connect! Even if you’re not ready to work with me, I’d love to hear about your wedding inspiration and see if I can help in some way.

This week, I’m getting ready for fall at home and I could not be more excited!

It’s my favorite time of year for family, entertaining and decor. Not to mention, one of my favorite wedding seasons—give me harvest vibes, crisp wether and golden autumn sunsets all day long!

This year, the season has inspired me to share more recipes, home decor and personal favorites on the blog and in the shop. So at the risk of sounding like a 90’s sitcom, stay tuned…

Happy Happy Friday everybody! I thought I’d end the week by answering some FAQ I often get about your wedding photography.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Q: Will you edit or retouch our photos?
A: I know you want to look your absolute best in your photos, and I want you to as well! I always hand retouch each photo delivered to you with special care and attention to detail.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Q: How long does it take to get our photos?
A: Good things take time, but nobody wants to wait very long. I pride myself in delivering your images within WEEKS of your wedding day, not months.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Q: How do we book?
A: I make booking as easy as it can be! Just tell me all about your wedding plans and photography needs. After viewing your custom wedding proposal, a signed contract and retainer will reserve your wedding date. And with easy and convenient online booking tools, the whole process is a breeze.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Q: Where should we go & what should we wear for our engagement session?
A: The only limit to planning your engagement session is your own imagination! And I love helping my clients dream big with planning consultations, location inspiration, and outfit recommendations. And with my exclusive engagement planning guide, I’m with you every step of the way.

Ever wondered what a wedding photographer gets up to behind the scenes?

Here’s a little insight into a week in my life!

This week I’ll be working on a new journal post sharing some of my favorite places to source the most beautiful bridesmaids dresses. I love helping to guide and inspire my Brides when planning their big day.

I’m so excited to be working with tomorrow on an editorial shoot for a NEW WEDDING VENUE in Visalia. (More stories updates to follow.)

And Saturday, I’m lending a hand to the incredibly talented on her stunning Lilly of the valley, luxury destination wedding floral design. For which I am so, so excited to see the final result.

Lastly I’m going to try really hard to remember to share some beautiful and exciting new stories updates this week to all who choose to follow along!

The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is this… you can spend the same amount of money on a destination wedding as you can on an at home wedding.

So ten years ago, my husband and I scrapped our plans for a 300 guest count backyard wedding, and traded them for an intimate destination wedding weekend in Napa Valley.

And we still had an epic reception with all our friends and family back home.

Best. Decision. Ever.

I’m curious, what’s the best advice you’ve ever taken?

I’m also excited for a few upcoming collaborations with some amazing people who are incredibly talented creatives and rockstar professionals, including , , and .

Outside of the creative hustle I’m also finding my fitness and lifestyle groove and exploring a new exciting opportunity professionally.

Hope everyone is enjoying their own wins this weekend. Much love xx

08/24/2022

My just-turned-two year old is constantly surprising me. And if you’re a parent too, I know you know what I mean.

Yesterday morning she woke up bright and early as usual, and while I was still in bed, she went into the living room and found my lap top left out in the coffee table—not where it belongs, and (to my horror) brought it to me in bed, along with my hard drive and laptop case.

Then she tells me, adamantly, “Gaia, out. Potty. Gaia, out!” I got up to A. rescue my lap top, B. let the dog out, and C. Etc. And before I, myself had left the restroom, she’d brought me my favorite coffee cup to tell me, “Mama, cafe.”

Next think I know she’s on the porch putting her rain boots on to go feed the horses! Since this kid was already ten steps ahead of me, while still barefoot and in my pjs, I took her next door to help Mimi and Papa with their morning chores then went back home to ‘Mama Cafe’.

While my coffee is still brewing, my mom calls to tell me my daughter began GIVING THE DOG A BATH—our 90lb Doberman pincher, I might add, with soap and everything. And I needed to come back immediately to help her rinse the dog.

All this before 7am, and I’ve got to say, I was more impressed than annoyed. Ever look at your spouse and say, “where did they get that?” I didn’t even have to ask. It’s 1000% what I pride myself on in how I serve my clients. Staying one step ahead, anticipating needs, surprising and delighting. I’m thinking in another year or so, I’m going to have an amazing little assistant!

05/15/2022

Ready for one of my all time favorite wedding album tips? A luxury wedding photographer friend of mine shared this idea with me and I think it is seriously brilliant.

This one is all about the stationary.

If you're anything like me, you might be overly obsessed with the details, especially when it comes to boutique, handmade wedding invitations. Does anyone else desperately miss the era of the handwritten letter?

And I mean it. Give me all the vintage wax seals, hand-dyed raw bamboo silk ribbon, handmade paper, envelope liners, embossing details, custom calligraphy and monograms... oh and don't forget the hand drawn or watercolored venue illustrations.

I swoon.

It is no secret that importing custom wedding invitations from a boutique paper press in France can cost a pretty penny. And I spent way more money than I'd care to admit on my own wedding invitations....but is it worth it?

In my opinion, kind of.

So let me offer you a couple different ways of looking at this.

First, a custom boutique invitation suite can seriously elevate your wedding--or at least, your wedding album. It can also be a stunning keepsake from your day that you will cherish for life. Especially if, also like me, your dreams are of a stunning destination wedding.

So consider this, investing in one, completely high-end, custom and boutique wedding invitation suite, that you keep for yourself and provide to your wedding photographer to photograph for your wedding album. Then, purchase less expensive, printed invitations to send to guests!

There are some amazing stationers and artists who can design your custom suite, then provide less expensive duplicates en masse to complete your order. It's a win-win!

I can't tell you how much I wish I'd thought of this for my own wedding suite!

Happy Monday! I love when beginning the week feels like a fresh start.

But can we take a minute to talk about something seriously close to my heart when it comes to planning your wedding? want to talk about guest count.

Why? Because firstly, it can have the biggest impact on your overall budget, stress AND day-of experience. In fact, it maybe the single BIGGEST factor in determining the wedding day you're going to have.

I know how easy it is to fall down the guest list rabbit hole. And when you're considering the who's who, and how many, I seriously want you to deeply consider a few things...

1st: Your budget. As I mentioned before, your guest count can be the single biggest determining factor of how much money you spend on your wedding. And I would NEVER EVER encourage a couple to begin their marriage with wedding debt.

2nd: The wedding experience. Both yours, and your guests! For the same amount of money, you can do much more for fewer people. This could mean a buffet vs plated dinner, a backyard wedding vs a destination wedding.

3rd: The REALLY important people in your life. I'm talking about those you KNOW will be around in another 10, 20 even 50 years. Those are the people who should be included in your wedding!

Lastly, and I can't stress this enough--this is YOUR wedding. PLEASE STOP trying to make everyone else happy. This day is for you and your fiancé only. That's it. And you only get ONE CHANCE to do it right

If, in your heart, you can't stop thinking about getting married on a beach in Maui, at a french chateau, the coast of Italy, or exchanging vows at the top of Machu Picchu, START PLANNING IT.

Even if it means just the two of you, or just your immediate family. I promise, you will not regret it. And as an added bonus, you can always have a the biggest party ever when you get home.

Wedding season is officially in full swing! I know I haven't been posting much lately... but you want to know what I *have* been doing?

Photographing weddings; planning engagement sessions; editing wedding galleries; collaborating with other creatives, attending photography workshops; spending quality time with family; celebrating my birthday; and doing absolutely everything I can to serve my family and my clients well.

This week, I'm excited to take steps to start serving myself well too:) Happy Monday!

Ever wondered what a photographer gets up to behind the scenes? Here’s a little insight into a day in my life!

After coffee, I connected with three different venues all over California to schedule photo shoots for Spring engagement sessions.

I'm editing an editorial I photographed last week.

I'm responding to wedding inquiries.

I'm onboarding one new client, had a client meeting with another, and met with a colleague to discuss shooting an upcoming wedding.

I'm updating my website, socials and marketing for the upcoming season.

I placed orders for client gifts, and packaged client gifts.

I had some personal time to connect with a dear photographer friend in Paris.

And I'm also pleased to report, I've located a missing binkie.

I'm exhausted, but considering today big wins all around. Stay tuned for some amazing images of coming soon!

Sometimes the risk of doing something new, or working with someone new, can stop you from doing what you really want to do--like grow your business, rise your prices, or spend more time with family. Sounds familiar?

I get it. It’s why, as a Private Editor, I offer busy photographers a happiness guarantee. I promise if you're not happy with my services as your Private Photo Editor, there's no commitment. And we can still be friends.

I offer busy photographers, consistent edits, easy file transfers, a quick onboarding process, no order minimums and fast turn around times. If you're considering hiring a Private Photo Editor, I'd love to chat!

Isn't she stunning! As someone who is BEYOND critical of the way I look in photos, one of the BEST parts of my job is making other women feel beautiful. Every bride deserves a stunning bridal portrait, which is why I like to offer Bridal Sessions.

So what's a Bridal Session?

It's a full portrait session for just the Bride and I, scheduled BEFORE the big day. I usually recommend planning this session for the day of your MUAH dress rehearsal.

This session gives us all the time we need to capture a variety of bridal portraits, in a stunning location with beautiful lighting, WITHOUT all the stress of the wedding day. Some brides even like to plan a bridal bo***ir session, too!

Ever wish you could go back in time and tell yourself something you now know? Same!

If I could go back in time, I’d tell my former self to make more time for travel, hot yoga, evening walks, date nights, family dinners, baking, playing in the garden and riding my horse.

One thing we can all agree on is that time is precious. I love helping couples and families capture their precious memories, and am excited to begin helping busy photographers spend more time on theirs.

If you're a busy photographer focused on growing your business, or want to spend less time working and more time living, I'd love to talk to you about how I can help as your Private Editor. Link to more info in bio!

Hello all! I'm back from a week of rest and restoration and so excited to share big news! I've had a couple weeks to reflect on the importance of how (and where) we spend our time.

Because time is one of our most important assets, I've decided to give my photography business a total makeover, I'm taking on fewer weddings to focus on the aspects of the business I truly love, so that I can help other busy photographers do the same.

How?

Do you want to know a secret? I was a photographer long before I ever realized it.

When I was a girl, I used to love pouring over images in books and magazines, I would even tear out pages of my favorite and most inspiring images of landscapes, fashion, and architecture, and keep them between the pages of my journals.

Whenever we took a family trip anywhere, I would have to have one of those little disposable cameras to document our travels, and when my family took up scuba diving, it was underwater photography that piques my interest most.

Five years ago, when I came home from the office and told my husband, I want to become a wedding photographer, I genuinely expected him to be surprised. Instead he just nodded at me and said, I know. I was the one surprised.

Looking back, on the relationship I've had with my cameras over the decades, it all seems so obvious. From falling head over heels in love with the film Sabrina, to planning styled shoots with my friends in grade school, and studying photography throughout high school, college and beyond, the signs were always there.

What can I say, besides-- Hi, I'm Elizabeth and I'm a photographer. Sometimes you just can't see the forest for the trees.
