WNC Kids Maker's Markets

After our initial application period for our email list (opt-in to those below), we are opening this event to the public (that's you!).

Here's what you need to know:

📅 When: Sunday, November 10th | 11am-3pm

📍 Where: Root Cause Farm | 26 Joe Jenkins Rd, Fairview, NC 28730

🧒🏽 Who: For children 12 and under who hand-make the products they sell (please no parent-made items)

🎪 What: The November event will have live music, a scavenger hunt, a food truck, and some other activities for the kids that Root Cause Farm will help coordinate.

3️⃣0️⃣ How Many: There is room for 30 vendors

💸 How Much: The booth cost is $20 per 10x10' booth (you must provide your own tent with weights and tables)

💰 Cash Prizes: We are back with $25 cash prizes for Best Booth Design, Best Wearable Item, Best Art/Craft Item (2 awarded), and Best Edible Item. These will be voted on by vendors and announced at the end of the event.

Thanks to our sponsors, we've added several prizes for the kid vendors. They will each be able to vote for one of their peers for 💰 $25 cash prizes 💰 awarded to 5 different vendors for:

- Best Booth Design / Display
- Most Creative Art or Craft Item (2 awarded)
- Best Food or Drink Item (judged on looks and taste)
- Best Wearable Item

We are gearing up for the rescheduled Fairview Kids Maker's Market this Sunday, June 9th 11-3pm at Root Cause Farm! Here's one of my favorite photos from the first market we did last summer. Due to forecasted rain, I've made the tough decision to postpone the event. The kids are disappointed, I'm disappointed, but we want this to be the best possible event for the kiddos. I hope you'll continue to spread the word and come on the new date: Sunday, June 9th! Will you help us turn this into a good thing for the kids? Please invite your friends for the new date!

Two of our kid vendors spend their days at the Appalachian Academy of Therapeutic Arts where they focus on nature immersion, neuro-development practices like meditation, yoga, and tai chi, as well as harmonic integration through music and nature's rhythmic sounds.

They are an amazing school who is supporting the Fairview Kids Maker's Market through generous sponsorship and will also have a booth at the market for guests to learn more.

We are three weeks away from the 3rd edition of the Fairview Kids Maker's Market at Root Cause Farm and we're officially sold out of all 30 vendor spots and on a waitlist!

I am actively looking for kid-related event sponsors if you could tag a business you'd love to see align with our mission!

By adding just a few, very curated and aligned sponsors to the event, it will allow me to:
🖍️Grow the events to larger venues and different areas of town to include more kids (we've sold out all three events so far)
🖍️Create a website and event management platform to make applying and paying easy for you and managing vendors a breeze for me!
🖍️Increase marketing efforts to bring in more shoppers to support the kids
🖍️Keep a musician coming back, which added a lot to the event last time.
🖍️Add additional resources for kids (think booklets and/or short webinars for pricing, choosing products, understanding customers, booth design/merchandising, etc)
🖍️Provide cash prizes for Best Booth Design, Most Creative Item, Best Edible Item, etc. (These will be Voted on by the kids)

We have officially filled all vendor spots for the May 19th event! It's exciting, and not. I hate that we end up with a waitlist of kids who won't be able to participate. I suppose it's a great sign that we need to grow the event and/or create a Kids Maker's Market in a different area of town.

Any areas that come to mind? I'd love to know where you'd like to see one next and if you have location recommendations:

1. East Asheville / Black Mountain
2. Hendersonville / Brevard
3. West Asheville
4. North Asheville / Weaverville
5. Close to downtown
6. Another area?

She is a Fashion-Style Artist and will be showcasing her pieces at the upcoming Fairview Kids Maker's Market on November 11th (11am-2pm) at Root Cause Farm and is SO excited to meet you. Meet one of our vendors for the upcoming Fairview Kids Maker's Market on Saturday Nov 11 at Root Cause Farm.

Esher—a natural treasure-hunter: she loves collecting everything from flowers, to acorns, to amazingly beautiful sticks, and much more.

Like her namesake, she says she wants to be an artist and is interested in all sorts of visual art, from dream-catchers to collages; drawings to fashion — her mom truly never knows what gorgeous gems & creations she’ll find in her room!
