Maybe you’re newly engaged and you’ve heard about hiring a planner or coordinator, or maybe you’re a vendor working with a planner or coordinator for the first time. You may be asking the question: “What’s the difference between a wedding coordinator and a wedding planner, and what do they do?”
I’ve been asked that question quite a lot over the course of my career as a planner and coordinator. Here’s how I would answer!

Wedding Coordinator:
* Role: A wedding coordinator primarily focuses on the ex*****on of your wedding day. They step in closer to the event date (usually a few weeks or days before) to ensure everything runs smoothly. Tip: You should always book your coordinator long before then to make sure you secure their services.
* Timeline: Their involvement is mainly during the final stages, handling logistics, vendor coordination, and on-the-day management. Plans with vendors such as song selection, shot lists, decorating, dinner menu, etc. should already be worked out prior to the coordinator stepping in.
* Tasks:
* Confirming vendor contracts and arrival times.
* Creating a day-of timeline for you and all vendors (unless one has already been made by you or your planner).
* Overseeing setup and breakdown.
* Managing the wedding day timeline.
* Troubleshooting any unexpected issues.

Wedding Planner:
* Role: Wedding planners are involved from the beginning. They work with you to design, plan, and execute your dream wedding.
* Timeline: Their services extend throughout the entire planning process, from choosing a venue to selecting vendors.
* Tasks:
* Budget planning and allocation.
* Venue selection and design.
* Vendor recommendations and negotiations.
* Guest list management.
* Timeline creation.

Depending on your coordinator/planner, they may not offer all of these services. You should always express your needs and expectations before booking to make sure you get the right person for the job.

This Saturday I traveld to Austin, TX to coordinate the Aluri wedding! The Bride surprised everyone with a costume change after the ceremony and was announced into the reception hall in a dress just as stunning as the first! 🤩 The meal was a blended cuisine to accommodate food preferences for both sides of the family. I just loved the thought put into it!

This micro wedding lasted no more than 5 hours for the ceremony and reception. So much to do in such a short time! I had my work cut out for me but was able to get through the entire timeline (with a few added surprises too). I have some vendors to thank for helping us to stay on track to give such wonderful people the wedding experience they deserved. I wish the Newlyweds a lifetime of love and happiness. 👰‍♀️❤️🤵‍♂️

Late post, but needed to show off the Nelson’s wedding from November 25th! This one really touched my heart since I also am married to a Marine. They had a beautiful Catholic wedding with the Marines in uniform at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral. The Church coordinator, Mary, was an excellent help in getting everyone prepared for the ceremony and I enjoyed working with her. McAdams Floral provided the flowers (always top notch!) Video provided by Leist Video and Transfer. Photography provided by Taylor Mayfield. Bride’s hair and makeup done by Shearly Marvelous.

The reception took place at The Club Westerner Dance Hall. They provided the bartenders who were easy going and fun to work with. Sweet Fountainz Bakery made and delivered the cake (wow 😍). Bill Pekar & The Rainey Brothers played live music throughout the night and really kept up with the flow of things. R&C Barbecue provided hot, and delicious food and served it buffet style. Elegant Creations by Maggie, weddings & events did the beautiful table decorations and drapery. And our team Shooting Star Event Planning coordinated the rehearsal and day-of, as well as some planning help and recommendations. S/O to King's Events and Tents for some rentals and Compadres Design Inc. for custom made koozies.

Y’all, it takes a village to pull off an event, especially a large wedding. There’s a lot of moving parts, but when it comes together and I see the love and happiness on the faces of the Bride and Groom, it brings me so much joy and fulfillment. I am so honored you trusted me with your special day! May your marriage and your new family be blessed with love and happiness for eternity ❤️

Earlier this month we decorated and helped plan a company Christmas party! The champagne colored sequin curtain were just added to our rental inventory in time for this event. We also have 2 backdrop stands and 4ft square table overlays now. Other tablecloths, table runners, backdrop curtains, and hanging lights were provided by us. Custom made certerpieces and custom hanging gifts with a lighted string for a backdrop. Thank you to the wonderful vendors for doing such an awesome job!

We had a great turnout to the Trunk or Treat last night! The rain stopped just in time and we had a lot of fun passing out candy, playing games, and judging the costume contest. Thank you to all the great vendors that came out to make this event so special and to Fergmar for hosting it. I enjoyed getting to plan, decorate, and coordinate, as well as setting up our own booth for Shooting Star.

On October 3rd, I coordinated the Martin wedding! 💗 This beautiful couple was married by the Groom’s father, who was ordained just for the occasion. The wedding was held on a Tuesday because the Bride and Groom have a special attachment to October 3rd, as it has been a lucky and joyful day for them throughout the years they have been together. I was honored to be hired to help on their special day and get to know them throughout the process. May the Newlyweds be blessed with a lifetime of love and happiness! 🌻🌹🍂
